Outstanding, Affordable Parlor Guitar

Looking for a high-performance parlor guitar that actually sounds good? The Fender Classic Design CP-60S 6-string Parlor Guitar offers a charming vintage sound in the studio or on the tour bus. It has features normally found on more expensive acoustic guitars, including a solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, a mahogany neck with a comfortable Easy-to-Play profile, and a smooth rosewood fingerboard with rolled edges. Its parlor shape has an old-school look and produces a retro sound that never goes out of style. The CP-60S's quality tonewoods make this guitar versatile; it's capable of sensitive expression as well as full-bodied projection for vocal accompaniment, campfire singalongs, and other unplugged applications. The instructors at Sweetwater's Academy of Music often recommend Fender Classic Design guitars like the CP-60S to their beginning and intermediate students, because they offer a combination of quality, playability, looks, and value that can't be beat.

Quality tonewoods generate classic tone

Spruce is highly valued for guitar tops — and for good reason. This stiff but elastic softwood is gorgeous and is equally suited to aggressive flatpicking and fingerpicking styles of play. The CP-60S has a solid spruce top that emits gorgeous, bright musicality. This guitar is also made with mahogany back and sides, producing warm, balanced tones from low to high end. With its graceful, ergonomically pleasing parlor shape and rosewood fingerboard, the CP-60S is a guitar that just looks, plays, and sounds great.

Comfortable parlor size and shape with scalloped bracing

Parlor guitars practically beg to be played, nestling into the player's body like no other guitar shape allows — and their shorter scale length (24.75" on the CP-60S) enhances playability even further. Inside that beautiful body, the CP-60S features scalloped X bracing, which provides firm support for the top while letting it resonate more freely than conventional bracing. The overall result is a guitar that achieves optimal tone and volume for its size.

Fender Classic Design CP-60S 6-string Acoustic Parlor Guitar Features:

  • Parlor shape and size evoke a retro vibe, feel, and sound loved by players and microphones alike
  • Shorter 24.75" scale length is more comfortable to hold
  • Solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides offer visual appeal and rich tones at great volumes
  • Scalloped X bracing firmly supports the top while letting it resonate freely for optimal tone
  • Rolled fingerboard edges for enhanced playing ease and confidence
  • Mahogany neck with slim Easy-to-Play profile for fast, comfortable picking and strumming

At this price you are a lucky first timer

Bought this for my wife because she wouldn't let me spend more on her 'in case I don't go on with it' All the usual arguments about being more likely to carry on with a more expensive guitar, you can alway recoup some of the money if you sell, fell on deaf ears. HOWEVER, this is a a great guitar for the money with a solid top a low, buzz free action (bass is actually a little bit high). Standard mahogany outside ply and whitewood inside ply back and sides, but still a pleasing tone at moderate volumes, although the bass lacks depth. Worth the price. I have no connection with fender products, and in the past hav dislike their offerings. This one is a bit different.
Music background: 50 years acoustic fingerstyle folk, blues and jazz. Own 3 high end martins, a gibson 12 and two handmades. also amateur maker and repairer.

Great Inexpensive Guitar

Great parlor guitar for the price. Sound very good for a guitar of this size, and projects very well. Action was decent right out of the box. As always, awesome service from Sweetwater as well!

Sweet little Box!

So far so good with this nice little box. I'm a 58 year old wanna' be blues guy and this makes a nice little blues box. Very nice finish, easy on the fingers and projects quite well. I'm really impressed what $... will buy you these days. Highly recommended for a budget oriented guitar! Ed Nystrom is great to work with BTW....
Music background: Newbie.

Fine parlor guitar

In 2014 I was looking for another parlor acoustic , These are the only acoustics I now play.
I only went by video's offered online to narrow down the choice between the Fender CP-100 and the Epiphone EL-00 pro . At the time I chose the EL-00. I still prefer smaller body parlor guitars and decided to check if the CP-100 was still offered and it is now the CP-60S.

I feel it's a fine , well made acoustic. The first one I ordered had two small issues and due to the fine people at Sweetwater they sent me another. These were not issues that would stand out to many. It played and sounded great.

You get quite a fine guitar in this price range , it would be a great first guitar or one for someone like me who's played since the mid 60's.

I imagine each one is a bit different and lets be honest some play just fine out of the box and others may need a bit of a setup . This is true for just about any guitar no matter what the cost.

It has nice wood and tuners and strap buttons nothing I would change. Later on after I've had it for some time I feel it's worth it for me to change the saddle and nut and pins . It does sound great as it is , I just like to tinker , with these changes it will sound even better since it's made very well. Every time I pick it up I find a few hours have passed , it's that sort of guitar. With a few improvements it will be even better.
Music background: been playing since 1964 , experienced.
