CLA’s workflow will give you a whole new perspective on mixing
Chris Lord-Alge works fast. Part of the secret to his rapid-fire workflow is how he visualizes his mixes. Rather than concentrating on one track at a time, he prefers to work in buckets — 8-channel groups that allow him to envision his mix as a whole. CLA MixHub works the same way. Rather than working on one channel at a time like most plug-ins, it loads up to 64 channels into a single window, in 8-channel groups. This allows you to mix the tracks side by side, rather than one by one. The engineers here at Sweetwater will attest — once you start mixing this way, you’ll learn to anticipate how one track’s processing affects other tracks within your mix. You’ll work faster, develop better instincts, and craft better-sounding mixes.
Infuse your mixes with a legendary analog console sound
The channel strips in CLA MixHub were modeled, from the ground up, directly from Chris Lord-Alge’s console and outboard gear. Its input section includes high and lowpass filtering and switchable preamp distortion. Its dynamics section contains two flavors of compression: his console’s built-in compressor and Chris’s “Bluey” compressor. You also get a gate, expander, and ducker. The EQ section boasts four bands of parametric EQ loaded with his console’s original ballistics and Q characteristics. The output section features a VU meter and plasma-style PPM meter, along with a stereo imaging control and output fader. CLA MixHub also includes insert points that let you add additional Waves plug-ins to your chain.
