Avantone's High-performance Studio Reference Amplifier

The Avantone Pro CLA-200 Studio Reference Amplifier was designed to be paired with the company's CLA-10 studio monitors — however, it can be used with just about any demanding speaker load. Very low distortion, reliable performance under heavy professional use, and a transparent, open sound make the CLA-200 a solid choice for passive nearfield monitoring in discerning studios requiring high power output with no fan noise. The conservatively rated CLA-200 delivers over 200 watts into 8 ohms and can run at one-third power without thermal fault.

No-compromise build quality

A classically designed Class AB amplifier, Avantone builds the CLA-200 the old-school way, with no-compromise components in a rugged 2U convection-cooled chassis that visually complements the CLA-10 Studio Reference Monitors. Of course, the CLA-200 can be used with any passive studio monitors that require serious dynamic range. Avantone exercised meticulous care to create an amplifier in the traditional studio style, with generous VU meters, high-grade Japanese components, and a beefy toroidal transformer linear power supply.

No fan noise — ideal for control room installation

Meticulously designed into a standard 2U rackmount chassis, this amp can generate over 200 watts per channel into an 8-ohm load, making it perfect for medium-to-large speakers in a studio control room environment. The CLA-200 is convection cooled, so there's no fan noise — which makes it even better suited for control room installation.

Great mid range studio amp

Was looking for a strong, silent mid range amp for Nearfield high definition, audio file speakers. Looks like I found it after three months of using the CL 200 with my Wharfdale's. I am totally happy with its performance. Lots of power, totally silent. Practically colorless, you can see the rest of my review on the CL 400 which I also bought. Good amp good price. Couldn't find anything that would beat it. Highly recommended. CL 400 in the center. 200 CL on the floor.

Great mid range lamp

Strong and Silent you can read my review on the CL 400 which I also own.
I've had them both for three months, and I am extremely satisfied with their performance, tone, silence and temperature. Probably one of the best amps you can buy in this price range. My CL 200 is powering a pair of Wharfdale diamond six, sounds incredible.

Bought this for my NS-10's and they sound absolutely amazing with this amp. Clean, clear and the right amount of power. You will not be disappointed.

WOW! My Yamaha NS-10 have come alive

My primary mixing speakers are a pair of Genelec 8040a's which I love. In addition, I had a pair of Yamaha NS-10 powered by a Hafler P-1500 both of which I bought 24 years ago. To be honest the NS-10's never sounded special. My Hafler P-1500 died last week and today I received a Avantone Pro CLA-200 to replace it. WOW! My NS-10's have come alive!! The clarity jumps out at me like never before. I love that the Avatone volume controls are stepped pots as it help to ensure consistent volume levels. I was surprised by the weight and size of this amp at 18" deep and 30lbs. The VU meters barely move unless you turn it up to uncomfortable levels, but they look nice.

Perhaps the best pro audio power amp anywhere near this price point.

I've really been liking this power amp on my vintage Tannoy dual concentrics. I've also had them running an original pair of PMC TB2 nearfields I was able to resurrect after the factory power amps crapped out. Been extremely pleased in both instances.

Kudos to Avantone for designing and building such an exceptional pro audio power amp product. I really trust this power amp. I really love the apparent speed and robustness of the AB architecture.

I don't use Yamaha clones for mixing and never really cared for the NS10, but it seemed a good thing to shout out the magnificent performance with other vintage pro audio speakers (or once active speakers with dead power amp modules). If it works this well for vintage Tannoy and PMC nearfields, that's saying a lot. If you're an NS10 fan, then hey. They special purpose built this for that. I'm just here to say the CLA-200 power amp has exceptional utility and performance.
