Jackson Signature Model for a Modern Metal Master

Modern metal legend Chris Broderick — former Megadeth and current Act of Defiance guitarist — has teamed with Jackson to design an affordable, high-quality, shred-ready guitar. The Jackson Pro Series Chris Broderick FR7 Soloist is a modern metal player's dream. With a 25.5-inch scale, a resonant mahogany body topped with gorgeous poplar burl, an oil-finished maple neck, and a lightning-fast laurel compound-radius fingerboard, you'll be free to explore and hone your own metal style. In addition, a pair of Broderick-designed custom DiMarzio direct-mounted humbucking pickups gives you a massive array of tonal possibilities. Modern metal players here at Sweetwater love the sound and feel of the Jackson Pro Series Chris Broderick FR7 Soloist.

Compound-radius fingerboard provides the best of both worlds

The Chris Broderick FR7 Soloist features a compound-radius laurel fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets. Down low, your fretting hand will appreciate the 12-inch radius that keeps things nice and comfortable for natural, relaxed chord work. Up top, a 16-inch radius lays it all out flat for effortless, low-action high-speed runs with monumental string bends without fretting out — the best of both worlds.

Neck made for metal style

From bow to stern, the Chris Broderick FR7 Soloist is set up for mammoth sustain. You get a through-body maple neck — a proven sustain-enhancing design that lets you explore your own metal style and attack. Top that off with custom DiMarzio direct-mounted humbuckers, and you have a recipe for slippery pitch expressiveness with rock-solid tuning stability and endless sustain.

Custom-designed pickups

Two Broderick-designed custom DiMarzio direct-mounted humbucking neck and bridge pickups give you all the metal punch and bite you need. In addition, a volume control with push-pull coil splitting unlocks even more tonal options while the tone control's push-pull switch enables the tone circuit and puts you in control of a massive array of tonal stylings and attack. Finally, a mini-toggle kill switch allows for the stuttering effects that have become a mainstay of modern metal.

Jackson Pro Series Chris Broderick Signature FR7 Soloist Electric Guitar Features:

  • Signature axe of former Megadeth and current Act of Defiance guitarist Chris Broderick
  • Eye-popping poplar burl top adds a considerable dose of flair
  • Smoking-hot custom-designed humbuckers deliver killer metal tone
  • Graphite-reinforced through-body neck provides incredible stability
  • 12–16-inch compound-radius laurel fingerboard yields ultra-fast playability
  • Floyd Rose Special double-locking tremolo for twisting, bending, and dive-bombing
  • Push-pull volume and tone controls unlock a wide spectrum of metal-flavored sounds
  • Killswitch mini-toggle adds stutter effects to your playing

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

Note: While demo items from Jackson do not include the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation warranty, you can shop with confidence knowing that this item is backed and covered by Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Jackson quality is back, hopefully to stay.

The guitar looks amazing first off. Also it has a painted, glossy neck which I always prefer. My hand sticks to unfinished necks for some reason, lol.
The pick ups sound great. The push/pull tone pot is a bit weird in that you have to pull it to adjust the tone. I'd prefer a coil split function on the pull part since the tone knob is out of the way so you probably won't be accidentally adjusting it. I love that the volume and tone knobs are recessed. That way you don't accidentally turn down the volume while playing, plus the volume is moved back too. My vintage Jacksons, the volume is directly under the treble humbucker. Overall it's way better than my first Jackson 7 string, which the pick ups had to be replaced immediately with Jeff Loomis black outs.
