Move over GoXLR and Rodecaster

I am a content creator on Twitch and Youtube as a scambaiter. I have been looking for a decently priced mixer with vocal effects for quite some time. The GoXLR is nice but it is no longer supported and I have been hearing horror stories of them dying. The Rodecaster is also nice...but wow, that price tag is hefty and it takes up a lot of desk space.

Enter the Roland BridgeCast. I use it with a Beacn Mix Create for audio routing and the two work together flawlessly. The build quality on the Roland is amazing. You can tell once you take it out of the box that it's a quality piece of equipment. Setup was quick and easy and fine tuning my mic using the Roland app was a breeze. 75db of gain on the preamp will feed the hungriest of dynamic mics (I use a Rode Podmic and have the gain set down around 50db). The mic sounds so crisp and rich and can be fine tuned using the EQ in the Roland app and the mic cleanup tools in the app.

The BridgeCast was released in 2023 so it hasn't had the time to really penetrate the content creator market but I imagine that, over time, this will be dubbed the "GoXLR Killer."

I couldn't recommend this product any more. It has replaced my mic interface, phantom power, NVIDIA Broadcast software (for mic noise removal), and preamp. You could even ditch that unsightly foam cover around your mic as the desser in the app cuts out the pops from 'S' and 'T' sounds wonderfully.

Pretty powerful! Enjoy it with two minor complaints.

I picked this up for live streaming to Twitch or YouTube, and so far it is doing a fantastic job. I can easily route my audio as I see fit, I can quickly adjust the mix for myself or for the stream and overall it just works. I also appreciate that with a single button, I can hear exactly what the stream output hears, meaning I can try to level out the audio for the stream without having to switch headsets.

Sound quality is excellent too. I run a Shure MV7X into it, run a little EQ on it (which can be done directly on the Bridge Cast) and the audio quality comes out nice and clear. If I want to use a headset mic though, it gives me that option as well, and I can switch between them and adjust gain directly on the unit.

My only two complaints are both rather minor. First, it has two USB connections, but one is power only. I wish they both could act as interfaces, with one as output only. This would be extremely useful for dual PC streaming setups as then I could mix the audio in post. Instead, right now I have the audio being fed via line out directly into my ATEM Mini Pro.

And second, I wish there was an option to mute the mic to chat only, so I could talk to the audience only during downtime. Hopefully this is something that can be brought over via a firmware update.

Anyway, I would recommend it. Sounds great, very hands-on, and it does its job phenomenally.

Decent on Windows not so on Mac

Firmware 1.04

I've tested most of the options and think it's a good device, but not great. It works a lot better on Windows than the Mac. Once dialed in you have a lot of flexibility for multi-track streaming. It has some serious potential.

Pros -

1 - Phones tested through Aux works good.
2 - The mute/assign allows for mapping of features. Really cool.
3 - The Ethos and Sm7b worked fine.
4 - Physical build quality is good.

Cons

1 - Mac experience wasn't positive and no way would I recommend using it on a Mac until it's updated. Buggy and missing features.

So so stuff

1 - Mic effects a tad underwhelmed on the quality.
2 - Save custom profiles would be nice vs over writing the canned ones.

Again, I would recommend for Windows if the purpose is Twitch, Tiktok, etc... For Mac I'd wait.
