This Is the Zeppelin Sound

Supro's 1696RT Black Magick Reverb electric guitar combo amplifier is engineered to replicate the highly customized Supro that Jimmy Page used to record much of the early Zeppelin guitar tracks. Based on the acclaimed 1695T Black Magick combo, the Black Magick Reverb is even better with a tube-driven spring reverb, a 2-band EQ, and a Master volume knob, for more sonic flexibility. And the two channels can be run independently or in parallel for even more crunch and tone-shaping options. The Supro 1696RT Black Magick Reverb combo amplifier will instantly take you back to the tones of "Good Times Bad Times" and "Communication Breakdown."

The Jimmy Page legacy

For rock fans, the guitar tones on Led Zeppelin 1 are some of the most revered in history. While they sound like a huge stack of screaming amps, in reality, much of those tones were conjured from Jimmy's highly customized 1 x 12" Supro combo. The Black Magick is a re-creation of that amp, down to the replaced speaker baffle from when Page converted the amp from a 2 x 10" design. Crank this amp up and bask in those iconic sounds while enjoying touch-sensitive levels of grit.

Two powerful channels

Like the original, the Black Magick boasts two separate channels with their own inputs. On this new model, however, the channels can easily be run separately or in parallel. The parallel option cascades the channels together for increased gain, tone shaping, and sensitivity. You can also use an additional A/B pedal to switch between the two channels for different tones. And it's also possible to run two separate instruments through the Black Magick simultaneously.

Even more tonal options

The Black Magick sounds so good that just cranking it up and digging in is well worth the price of admission. But the 1696RT also boasts a stellar tube-driven tremolo, with double the speed range compared to its predecessor. The trem's depth and dimension can be switched via footswitch (not included). An uncommon pair of 6973 power tubes is what delivers the immediately recognizable midrange of the amplifier. And the 1696RT is covered in black rhino Tolex that makes it visually stand out from most other tube combo amps on the market today. Needless to say, guitarists at Sweetwater are stoked for this amp!

Supro 1696RT Black Magick Reverb Electric Guitar Combo Amplifier Features:

**Stellar!** Amp! (with upgraded Creamback Speaker)

One of the best sounding (and looking, but that's secondary)amps I've ever played through, and I've played through quite a few--vintage, modern, Marshall, Fender, Vox, Orange, solid-state, tube, custom, etc.

I had mine upgraded with a Celestion Creamback speaker. It sounds amazing! Incredibly responsive to every nuance of my playing. With all three volumes cranked, it's Jimmy Page meets Clapton/Green Bluesbreakers-era tones. Add in the incredibly versatile reverb (goes from fairy dust embellishment to flat-out cavernous) and you're in Peter Green Fleetwood Mac-era territory (I Loved Another Woman, Closing My Eyes, etc).

I love this amp--it was well worth the wait, and inspiring–which is the point, isn't it?

Full on Amazing

1000% perfect amp for me. I kept going back and forth between Princeton and Deluxe Reverb. Ended up on a YouTube rabbit hole fest with Supro and really started loving the Supros. Took a chance and decided on this Black Magick. Couldn't be happier. It's got all the cleans I could ever want but also has that epic low mid push available too. And when dime'd the sound is really really awesome. Extremely sensitive to touch, can go from glass to rage all under the same settings just based on how soft or hard you dig into the strings. Loads of headroom, loads of volume, loads of bottom. This thing ticks all the boxes and creates new boxes and ticks those too. Feels sorta of cool knowing it's sorta the underdog popularity wise. Blows away my previous amps. Take a chance you won't be disappointed. I did swap out the reverb tank for a short decay MOD. I found the stock Long decay not to my liking. Totally fine with the $ upgrade. More fenderish sounding verb now.

Great amp!!!!

I love this amp. That being said. If you buy one, get the JHS Bender Fuzz pedal. It brings the Supro to life.

Best amp at this price point in my opinion!

I picked up a Supro Black Magick Reverb about 6 months back after hearing demos. I was previously lusting for a Tone king but heard demo's of this and wow! I was blown away! $ cheaper and has a sound that is absolutely amazing! Great crisp cleans, amazing beefy overdriven tones if you push it. Technically it is two different amps in one. I love it. In my view Supro hit it out of the park with this! Jimmy Page tones all over the place! Takes pedals great. Also it's really good looking and easy to carry around, not too heavy, plenty of juice for live gigs! This is my absolute go to amp! Always stoked to fire it up and get that SOUND I've been looking for!

I Found the Tone (For Now)

I've been a Marshall and Fender guy for years but was looking for something different, and of course, influenced by the tones of Zep I, I went with the Black Magick. Tone is aggressive and clear on both my Tele and Les Paul, somewhere between British and American sounding..again...unique. The master volume is key for me, playing in both smaller clubs and larger outdoor gigs, I'm always fighting sound guys and cranky managers with stage volume. I wanted something I can have the same tone no matter what size venue I'm in. I drive both volumes on full and adjust the master. Simple. I'm also tired of "foundational" pedals to achieve that pushed amp tone. Sometimes they sound decent, sometimes they don't. Now I get pure amp tone without the false overtones that an amp in a box can sometimes give you. I just use amp, an Ecoplex, a ThroBak Stonebender and that's it. I can now simplify my rig and get great live pure amp tones. The online/youtube videos really don't do it justice. Great amp for both clean and overdriven tones. Now I just need the 1x15 cab to go with it and then I'm done..for this year anyway. Also thanks to Greg Savino for helping me with gear all these years.
