Software Compatibility

You'll need an iLok copy protection device in order to use this software. If you already have one, you're good to go. If you don't, you can buy one here. An iLok is a small USB gadget (about the size of a thumb drive) that plugs into your computer. It "unlocks" the software, allowing you to use it.

Most software is compatible with both Mac and Windows computers, but check to make sure.

If you're using Pro Tools, AAX plug-ins (or RTAS for older versions) are what you need. Most other Mac DAWs support AU plug-ins. VST is compatible with a number of Mac and Windows programs. Be sure you choose plug-ins that work with your DAW!

Strymon Makes its Way onto the Screen

Here at Sweetwater, Strymon pedals are synonymous with quality, and now they’re taking their world-renowned reverb pedal out of the box and into the digital realm with the BigSky Reverb plug-in! This plug-in is a direct port of the BigSky’s 12 reverb algorithms, but with a host of added features — pitch shifting, filtering, program-specific parameters, and tunable room ambience are now available for even greater control over your echo. What’s more, the Infinite and Freeze functions are perfect for building up ambient soundscapes, especially when paired with the BigSky Reverb plug-in’s built-in modulation for some spacey sonic movement. Finally, this plug-in sports Strymon’s legendary intuitive control, and it will be instantly familiar to fans of the classic BigSky pedal. It may be their first foray into the world of plug-ins, but in typical Strymon fashion, the BigSky Reverb plug-in is a resounding success!

Endless echo options

The Strymon BigSky Reverb plug-in boasts 12 highly distinct, studio-quality reverb sounds that take you anywhere from the modest diffused reflections of a typical hall reverb to the angelic textures of a sparkling shimmer 'verb. Directly ported from the BigSky, each of these algorithms is further enhanced with program-specific controls for a near-endless level of sonic adjustment. Once you’ve found your preferred settings, the BigSky Reverb plug-in’s powerful preset function allows you to save your favorite sounds, making it easy to instantly recall settings when running multiple instances of this plug-in during the mixing process.

Infinite and Freeze tools for real-time soundscapes

Guitar players who venture into the realm of ambient soundscapes have been favoring Strymon’s reverb and delay pedals for years, and the BigSky Reverb plug-in brings that spacey power to the studio with the Infinite Sustain and Freeze functions. By engaging the hold button, the BigSky Reverb plug-in allows you to swap between these two modes, offering a real-time way to create ghostly pads and foundations for improvising over. Both modes offer an infinite decay, but the Freeze function is unique in that it allows you to play unprocessed notes over your reverb’s never-ending wash!

Stompbox simplicity in a plug-in format

As powerful and flexible as Strymon’s products are, there’s not a pedal they offer that isn’t user friendly right out of the box. Strymon has extended their philosophy of immediate, intuitive control to the BigSky Reverb plug-in, and anyone who has ever used a BigSky Stompbox will be instantly familiar with this plug-in’s easy-to-use interface. Strymon tells us that their products are designed to “empower your creativity without getting in the way of it,” and the BigSky Reverb plug-in more than delivers on this promise!

Strymon: a philosophy of quality

Strymon pedals are quickly becoming an industry standard in professional-quality effects. They're dedicated to offering exceptional customer service and, in their own words, making "gear that sounds better than anything you've ever heard." This California-based company uses only the highest-quality components and powerful processors in their pedals. And each design offers more tweakable parameters than meets the eye for fine-tuning your tone. This construction and sound quality is the reason Sweetwater is impressed with Strymon, and why you find their pedals on the pedalboards of professional musicians around the world.

Big Sky Strymon VST

There are many reverb plugins out there like Valhalla Shimmer which I own but big sky strymon is in another league. I combined keyscape c7 wash with the cloud preset and I was blown away with the sound. Highly recommend it specially for studio producers.

Strymon does it again!

I have put this plugin on my Kurzweil keyboard with a Fender Rhodes sound. It is easy to adjust the sound to your liking and has a good number of reverb types to choose from as well as other great adjustment features. I am extremely happy with this and it was well worth the cost. I highly recommend it.

What can you say?

Strymon has some of the best products around. I've had their pedals and now the plug-in works great. Easy install and very intuitive. Sounds are perfect.

Think it's missing one thing

Managed to try this plugin out. All of the sounds are spectacular. The only global parameter that I think it's missing is some kind of width control. I'm using is primarily for mixing guitars. I'd love the option to collapse the reverb to mono or to really widen the reverb for more spread control. Even with that for my style of music this is a must for me. Exactly what I need for airy guitar tones without the headache of trying to record with reverb pedals. More pedal companies should make plugin versions of their pedals, especially for mixing guitars so we dont need to reamp stuff for tracking modulation or reverb fx.

Good plugin, just can't work with iLok

Strymon has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid playing with their pedals. I also am a big fan of their eurorack modules. So when I saw the big sky plugin I was elated! I wanted to have it. Fast forward to now and I never use it. Why? Because of iLok. Yes, iLok is the deal breaker for me here.
I would use it more often but its usually the case that iLok is preventing me from using my Big Sky plugin when I load up my daw. Worse still, it repeatedly asks for the activation code despite my activating it ages ago. If I could return this plugin I would because it collects more dust than the pedals do. It's a shame because it's a great plugin when it works. But iLoks self-importance often overrides and delays my workflow. I plugin should be heard and not seen like it is in this case. I don't want to have to manage my iLok settings or stop my workflow to open iLok. Its a distraction from the work that's actually important. I have many other reverbs at my disposal and can do without this one if it's going to cause a hassle.
