Great interface for multiple inputs & outputs

I'm currently using this for my desk that has inputs from my computer and Switch. My outputs are my desktop monitors and some headphones. Before, I was annoyed by a whine that would come through the computer while playing my Switch. No longer a problem! I am excited I still have room to add an external microphone and another stereo output in the future.

Perfect for a Home Studio

For a such a small and simple device, it carries a massive amount of the work in my rig. Not only does it allow me to route my casual devices' audio thru to my main monitors, but it also also my the option to track whenever I please, all with no more than a couple button presses. It requires just under two thirds of the space my previous interface and monitoring setup required, a huge plus since space isn't a luxury I can waste. I recommend it!

You'll Love It

Master volume, mono, mute, speaker A/B buttons... all in one box. I love this little thing. The knob can be slippery (right out of the box) but there's both hardware and software trim controls that make the knob less slippery if you pull down a good -18db (or more). It does get a little warm, but that doesn't bother me. This box was a game changer for my small home studio.

A 2 for 1 deal.

I purchased the demo version of this product to take advantage of the price and received a defected product.

The issue I had with the demo version was once my microphone was connected, it wouldn't pick up any signal or sound at first. A few seconds after connection, I would hear a popping/clicking noise then I could hear myself, but 30 seconds later, the signal would cut off. It did the same process repeatedly with no end to it. What I did was disconnect every wire from the Big Knob except the power wire. Upon inspection, I noticed the input meter would raise up and down at the same time the popping/clicking would occur, so I knew it wasn't my computer or any connectivity issues.

I called tech support and Kenny was able to relieve me. I had it returned at no cost and received a newer Big Knob the next day and had no further problems since.

Now for the initial review. An audio interface integrated with the capabilities of a studio monitor? That's a deal if you ask me. I just needed this to process signal to my computer so I can record. So far its doing exactly what it should do. Love it.

Fantastic tool.

I've owned this for a few years and it has become a critical workflow tool. My initial need was to have active volume control for my monitors. I didn't want a passive controller because I wanted more control (gain and trim options). Immediately, the input LED's proved to be incredibly useful. Over time, the other options that I didn't think I'd use became fantastic and critical tools for both recording and mixing. First, the dedicated A and B monitor select buttons can be used to simply shut off the signal to the monitors. I love that Mackie didn't just give an A/B button, but dedicated buttons that can be independently turned on and off. The Mute button also helps with this function. For recording, having the two independent headphone outputs, each with their own level control is awesome! My other favorite function is the Mono button. This has become an indispensable function when mixing, or when getting the signal chain right. Sure, you could do this in your DAW, but this is one button and its right there. This will get you to listen to mono mode more, and your mixes and signal chains will sound better for it. I don't use all the functions, but I'm happy knowing they're there in case I ever needed. Truly a Swiss Army tool for any studio.
