I bought this head to covert an early 2000's Pearl Masters Maple Custom floor tom into a mini bass drum for gigs. It has tom hoops, and this head is not compatible with those hoops. Beware! If you don't have bass hoops on your drum, the head won't fit.

You need to instead buy the 16 inch EMAD head for tom hoops from Sweetwater. Same price as this one too.

I put this Evans head on my new Sonar AQX jungle kit and it REALLY gave the little 16" bass drum a lot of body and depth. The EMAD system lets you run your bass drums with no internal dampening like a pillow. This in turn allows the shell to resonate freely so you are able to still get all of the wonderful overtones. EMADS are a staple on my drum sets.

I've used EMAD bass drum heads on my 22" kick for years. So when I purchased a new, smaller kit with a 16" bass drum, I hoped Evans made an EMAD for it, and they do. It was everything I have come to expect from Evans EMAD heads. It's pretty much a set it and forget it situation. If you're shopping for a quality Bass drum batter head, of any size, you needn't look any further than this one. Buy it!

they do make a emad for floor toms that fits a standard triple flange hoop.....you may have to ask for it specifically, as i did....but it fit my 14x16 pork pie suspended "floor tom" perfectly...i put a 16" evans coated G2 on the front side and it sounds really good.....i place the drum on a DW adjustable bass drum riser, so it just floats on there....no drilling holes for spurs or any of that stuff..the danmar bass drum lift thing may work just as well....but not as adjustable......and if i want to use the drum as a suspended floor tom again in the future, it's ready to use just like it is.....

This bass drum head is awesome, gives my kit a really good sound with my roland trigger!
