Prime Your Bass Tone for Any Application

Building on the sonic tenacity of its predecessor, the Darkglass Microtubes B7K Ultra V2 bass preamp pedal offers more versatility than ever for your bass tone. In response to numerous player requests, Darkglass has added a balanced XLR output with switchable cabinet emulation — you can achieve full, amp-like tone just by going direct to the sound system or recording chain. You can connect to your Mac or PC via USB to load up different virtual cabinet emulations. There's an aux in for plugging in an external music player, and the headphone output features cabinet emulation too, making the Microtubes B7K Ultra V2 a great practice partner. From practice and rehearsal to performance and recording, the Darkglass Microtubes B7K Ultra V2 is a workhorse bass preamp pedal.

Optimize your bass tone for any application

Whether you're plugging into a bass amplifier or going direct, the Darkglass Microtubes B7K Ultra V2 bass preamp pedal is a great way to optimize your bass tone. It combines a powerful preamp, independently switchable overdrive, and a 4-band EQ to deliver ample sonic options. Toggle switches for the mid-EQ bands allow for precision tone shaping, while the Attack and Grunt switches determine how your highs and lows are affected by the overdrive circuit. The blend control balances your dry tone and the overdrive, meaning you can dial in growling overdrive without sacrificing your fundamental tone. To bolster your bass tone for performance or recording, Sweetwater can highly recommend the Darkglass Microtubes B7K Ultra bass preamp pedal.

Darkglass Microtubes B7K Ultra V2 Bass Preamp Pedal Features:

  • Preamp pedal for electric bass guitar
  • Independently switchable overdrive, with a Blend control to balance dry tone and overdrive
  • 4-band EQ with switchable mid frequencies allows you to explore a wide tonal range
  • ±12dB boost/cut range for each EQ band
  • Attack and Grunt switches set the amount of treble and bass to be overdriven

Darkglass B7K Ultra V2 with Aux In

This pedal sounds amazing even when it's clean, or dirty. Just plug in your bass and sound already amazing without any tweaking with the speaker emulation, turn on the preamp and all the extra controls is at your fingertips. The overdrive/distortion channel can add a little grit as a great tube amp, or can go nasty distortion for those metal, rock bass tones if you are after that with the blend knob to mix the dry and wet signals. I love the option you can load and save different cabinet simulation responses trough the micro usb connection to your PC or Mac. Also you can set the headphone output level digitally. Speaker sim is always on via headphones out, but you can turn on or off from the balanced XLR output. This is an excellent recording option, also you can decide to send your favorite cabinet response to front of the house PA, or not to.
The Aux In made me to purchase again this pedal after I had the v2 without. It makes practice a breeze and you can have your favorite Darkglass tone all the time, live, studio, or at practice out from one unit. It has excellent built quality and pioneering analog & digital technology mixed together inside. Thank you Sweetwater for the fast shipping and excellent packaging as always and a special thank to my sales engineer Brent Leuthold for his amazing work!

Darkglass microtubes B7K Ultra V2 bass preamp pedal with aux in

Well what can ya say bout Darkglass products if ur a bass player that likes versatility well then ya might wanna dabble into these bass pedals by Darkglass.

At 1st I was having a lil difficulty but after playin n digging into it, it was incredibly easy to create my tone.

I love de versatility of this pedal, ya can go from extremely aggressive to that low fat bottom clean tone

I have bought 4 Darkglass pedals n have yet to say Nah!! I do not like it n send it back.

Lets keep in mind that Darkglass products are made for YEP!! BASS PLAYERS!! COOL RIGHT

In all I have bought 15-17 pedals in last 2 years from Sweetwater n ya couldn't get any better deals than what they offer.

After talkin with my newest appointed salesperson Joey Bartoli, I couldn't ask for a better knowledgeable person and he is a musician as well, if I have ask a question and he does not know the answer, he will not guess and confer with another salesperson who is more qualified to answer the question that I asked and get back to me.

another words he is there to help ya buy what is right for you not just make a sale

And that ladies n gentleman is how ya run a professional operation.

I am and always will be a loyal customer

Darkglass B7K Ultra v2 pre-amp/DI

I place a PRE-AMP/DI in all my Bass cases, so I have control of my tone. I was planning on using the Darkglass B7K ultra in my Rickenbacker 4003sw case... until... testing and trials. WOW..No, I'll not be doing that. THIS PEDAL ROCKS!!!! I purposely placed the DARKGLASS in my gig pack, as my goto DI for every genre that requires a soundboard. INCREDIBLE PEDAL. KILLER EQ, WILD DISTORTION and COMPLETE CONTROL!! Sweetwater Gear Advisor... cudos for the recommendation.

The Do-It-All Preamp/Distortion Pedal

I had the Darkglass B7KU Kraken version a few years ago and sold it off, so when I decided I needed another one, the B7KU v2 was an easy choice (I also got the limited edition Squid version, which looks absolutely amazing. I've gotten plenty of compliments on it, from guitarists nonetheless). First off, both the clean tone and distorted tones are phenomenal. The 4-band EQ with the toggle switches for the lo- and hi-mids allows for complete tone shaping. When you jump on the distorted side, you've got plenty of options with the Blend, Level, and Drive. If you're really looking for that old-school, vintage distortion, the Vintage pedal may be for you, but for most all other sounds, you can get it with the B7K. I particularly like the Attack and Grunt switches, which can change the character of the distortion completely.

The cab sim, headphone out, and aux-in are the hidden gems on this pedal that really take it over the top. With these three, I have sufficiently replaced my small practice amp since I typically just practice through headphones in my apartment. The cab sim makes the headphone output sound like a mic'd cabinet, as opposed to that "tinny" sound you can get from typical headphone amps that just convert an unbalanced signal into something usable by headphones. Just be sure to plug the pedal into the Darkglass Suite and manually adjust the volume on the headphone output. Initially, mine was set to 50%, so I thought my headphone out didn't work. The only feature I haven't tested is the Direct Output for recording. With a ground loop button and the aforementioned cab sim, I imagine this will be phenomenal. The only thing that Darkglass perhaps could have added was a -15 dB pad on this XLR output, since electric instrument DIs can sometimes come in hot for some audio interfaces.

Very Versatile

I wanna say that darkglass has amazing products well built, and able to produce amazing tones!. To start you can dial in this pedal anywhere from a clean signal sound all the way to disgusting overdriven bass tone (pretty much in all metal music) I highly recommend this pedal you will not be disappointed!!

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?

Craig Edgar

As a working bass player, I need big tone on the go. The Darkglass Microtubes B7K Ultra V2 delivers on all counts. The 4-Band EQ with switchable mids allows for super fine control over your tone, and the Attack and Grunt controls let you shape the voice of your distortion. You can range from warm tubey breakup to rowdy and rude nastiness with a few quick adjustments. The excellent cabinet simulation on this unit makes it a great option for bringing huge tone to DI situations like a home studio or silent stage.
