Huge time saver

I use these in a complex that routes audio to any number of zones depending on the event. When I started working here, we were running lots of analog cables to accomplish this. With the existing network we are able to route audio via dante and we have patches throughout the complex. I rename the device w my name and appropriate numbers/flow and also rename the outputs so whoever is on the dante network knows exactly what they are or who to talk to.

I love these little guys

Unconventional as it might sound - These are all I have needed as my A to D for recording in my home studio. My reasoning is that the digital aspect of gear moves so fast I wanted to spend as little as needed in order to get up and running, and then scale up as needed. Having the AD conversion wherever I want is handy! Once or twice I have noticed an interruption to connection if the cat5 jack got bumped but that might depend more on the quality of the cat5 cable. In a live application, that could be a deal breaker for me. As my studio grows and technology changes, these will probably always stick around as utility inputs and outputs. Dante might as well be like MIDI in the sense that it is going to stick around for a good while; no hunting the web for the right driver that might work with the latest OS update!

Exactly what I needed

This should get more than 5-stars; it's exactly what I've been waiting for. I am using a Mackie DC16 along with a DL32R and the only stereo input I have at the DC16 is the 1/8" stereo jack (which I reserve for my iPhone with iTunes). I have a Denon DJ MC4000 which has XLR outs and the only way to integrate it into my setup is to run long XLR cables up to the DL32R (not very practical). With this adapter (and a PoE switch) I am able to easily integrate the DJ controller at the DC16 console.

Setup was very simple; DL32R ethercon port A to DC16 ethercon port A, DC16 ethercon port B to Netgear PoE gigabit unmanaged switch port 1 (standard ethernet cable), AVIO adapter to port 2 of PoE switch with standard ethernet cable, and finally the AVIO adapter to MC4000.

Powered up everything, connected a Dell PC to port 3 of the PoE switch, started the Dante Controller app, and after a few seconds, it recognized all the Dante transmitter and receiver devices on the network. The AVIO adapter shows up as a transmitter with CH1 and CH2; I mapped CH1 to Dante 28 on the DL32R and CH2 to Dante 29 on the DL32R which are Returns 1 and 2 on the DL32R. Fired up Serato DJ and I was in business.

I'll probably be buying a few more for backup and to add to my box of tools along with my passive and active DIs. This is a game changer for me.

A great way to get older output devices on your Dante network

The adapter is just as described, taking two channels of balanced audio into your Dante network. You can set the input calibration (0 dBFS) to +24dBu / +4dBu / 0dBu / 0dBV /-10dBV, and the frequency response is flat at all levels. The device supports two flows which means you can ship audio via unicast to two Dante receiver devices or you can switch to multicast to reach additional destinations.
The device requires a POE switch or an injector (no wall wart available).
I use mine to bring in a Shure BLX receiver regularly.
