Focused, Flat Response!

The Audio-Technica AT4021 is versatile small-diaphragm condenser microphone that's perfect for both the studio and the stage. The AT4021's cardioid pickup pattern helps to improve isolation of your sound source, and an onboard switch lets you choose between a flat response, or a rolled-off response at 80Hz, to eliminate low-frequency rumble. It's a good choice for miking acoustic guitars or for using as a drum overhead microphone. Essential accessories, including a stand clamp, a windscreen, and a protective carrying case, are included with the Audio-Technica AT4021 small-diaphragm condenser microphone.

Audio-Technica AT4021 Small-diaphragm Condenser Microphone at a Glance:
  • Studio and stage-worthy microphone, great for acoustic guitar and drums
  • 10dB pad and 80Hz highpass filter, for tailoring the AT4021 to the source

Studio and stage-worthy microphone, great for acoustic guitar and drums
A member of Audio-Technica's rugged 40-series microphones, the AT4021 is a worthy choice for both stage- and studio-miking needs. It features a cardioid pickup pattern for excellent sonic isolation from other instruments, and its low self-noise keeps it usable in critical studio applications. You'll find the AT4021 to be an especially good choice for miking acoustic guitars, as well as for using as drum overhead microphones, in a pair.

10dB pad and 80Hz highpass filter, for tailoring the AT4021 to the source
The Audio-Technica AT4021 lets you tailor its response to whatever source you happen to be miking. Already, it features high SPL handling - 146dB - and, with its 10dB pad engaged, you can comfortably handle sources up to 156dB SPL, without distortion. This makes the AT4021 especially useful in drum-miking situations. What's more, an onboard highpass filter at 80Hz helps to take out the muddy low frequencies, giving you a cleaner sound when recording more articulate, high-frequency-emphasized instruments.

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Great Acoustic Mic

Did a shootout of mics including the AT4021, Rode NT5, Josephson C42, AKG C 451 B, Telefunkin M60, Bock 195. The AT4021 won by far. More focused, clarified sound. Overall character of the sound was awesome. Captured the sound of my Martin 000-17sm perfectly.

Audio-Technica AT4021 for acoustic guitar

Great mic for acoustic, it brings the shimmer and sparkle.

Best Acoustic Mic ever

I always loved the mojo of the 2021 but it had the nastiest noisefloor at 19 db!! This baby has less noise than the SM81 but it just has a better coloration (though still very flat response) and just brings that magical presence out in string noise/harmonics that NEVER gets annoying. Amazing Mic (try on toms too)

AT4021

The only reason that I'm giving this mic a 4.5 and not a 5.0 is that I wish the pad, & response switch wasn't inset. Now to the meat and potatoes. I bought this mic for acoustic guitar in my studio. Upon opening the box, I'll say that the build of this mic is solid. Doesn't feel lightweight and cheap. The sound is fantastic. I play a Breedlove so was looking for something that would fit well with it, and this mic does all that. Very nice flat response, not too bright. Last night I mic'd up a mandolin and did a comparison against my Shure Ksm44. Myself, and the mandolin player both agreed that the AT4021 sounded better. Or maybe I should say that it did a better job capturing the mandolin. I've also used this mic for recording tambourine, and shakers, and it works great. When I was shopping for a new mic, I almost bought the more expensive AT4051, I'm glad I didn't as you get your monies worth with this baby.
