Blendable Strat and Acoustic Tones at Your Fingertips

The newest addition to Fender's Acoustasonic family of instruments is the Acoustasonic Stratocaster. This powerful acoustic-electric hybrid gives you all you need to blend between guns-blazing rock and country leads and a veritable studio's worth of modeled acoustic tones, all with the comfort you expect from today's Custom Shop Strats. Sound too good to be true? Trust us: these guitars are worth the hype. Whether you're a Nashville session player or a Sunday music leader, the Acoustasonic Strat packs a wealth of great tones in its svelte frame. Fender's comfortable spruce-on-mahogany SIRS Strat body is built to resonate like an acoustic instrument without succumbing to the feedback issues of other stage acoustics. And its Modern Deep C mahogany neck provides effortless electric-like playability up and down the fingerboard. Acoustasonic's bleeding-edge 3-pickup system — a real Fender N4 Noiseless magnetic single-coil paired with a Fishman Matrix undersaddle system and percussive body-top pickup — takes you from Texas sugar to six distinct acoustic tones with the flick of a switch. Powering it all is a 20-hour rechargeable battery that supports simultaneous charge-and-play for non-stop musicmaking wherever you play out.

Acoustic, electric, or both?

How would you like to layer your acoustic rhythms with heavily processed electric tones? Or volley between sweet acoustic sweeps and tasty Texas leads in the middle of a song? It’s all possible with the Acoustasonic Stratocaster. A 5-way switching system makes accessing these diverse tones a breeze. Each position features two distinct sound profiles (clean/crunch, short-scale/dreadnought), which can be continuously blended via the rear Mod knob. Whether you’re running into a PA or an amp, the Acoustasonic Strat provides great tones at the flip of a switch.

N4 Noiseless magnetic bridge pickup

The Acoustasonic’s N4 Noiseless magnetic bridge pickup achieves authentic Strat-style tones with hum-free performance. This pickup nets you crisp cleans to crunchy overdrive with a tight low end, clearly defined highs, and punchy mids to power through any mix. Surprisingly, this pickup even sounds great without an amp, plugged directly into a PA.

Fishman Matrix undersaddle system

The Fishman Matrix is one of the world’s best-selling acoustic pickups. In the Acoustasonic Strat, it provides a syrupy-sweet direct tone and plenty of range to suit any manner of music.

Body-top acoustic pickup

Whether it's John Mayer acoustic stops or a full-on Kaki King flamenco assault you're after, the Acoustasonic Strat's dedicated body-top pickup, accessible in position 3, adds a percussive element that's hard to top in traditional instruments.

The Acoustasonic body features an inset top with integrated forearm contour, along with Fender's patent-pending String Instrument Resonance System (SIRS) — designed to produce great tone whether unplugged or plugged in.
Players will find a curated collection of 10 blendable acoustic and electric profiles aboard the Acoustasonic Strat. The “A” voice has the mod knob rotated fully counterclockwise; the “B” voice is fully clockwise.

Blend your tone to taste

Strumming, fingerpicking, and lead work all require different sounds. The Acoustasonic Strat gives you access to 10 distinct acoustic and electric voices via a traditional 5-way selector and an A/B mod control for fine-tuning selections. These voices accommodate diverse genres and playing styles with ease. In addition to electric tones, onboard acoustic options span dreadnought, parlor/concert, and articulate auditorium body styles that mirror premium tonewoods, including Sitka spruce, Brazilian rosewood, mahogany, and maple. Whether you’re seeking a boisterous dreadnought or a slim short-scale that gels in a mix, it's all at your fingertips — no pedals required! Plus, if the Acoustasonic Strat wasn’t unique enough already, players can blend electric and acoustic tones in positions 1 and 2 for acoustic texture with a touch of driving electric sustain or electric tone with a hint of percussive acoustic attack.

Familiar Strat design

Fender has done a great job of retaining the style and playability of the beloved Strat design for an instrument as advanced as the Acoustasonic Stratocaster. From the familiar single-cut body to its great-playing, ebony-capped Modern Deep C-profile neck, everything about this guitar will make you feel right at home onstage or in the studio. Its action is a nice compromise between styles: it doesn't bottom out for strums, and it doesn't fret out for leads.

SIRS mahogany body

Unique to the Acoustasonic family of guitars is Fender's mini-soundhole mahogany body with SIRS resonance enhancement system. Paired with its transverse-braced solid Sitka spruce top, the Acoustasonic Strat resonates like no guitar you’ve played before, with punchy bass and a sparkly top end that comes across loud and clear through the onboard Fishman electronics.

Onboard rechargeable battery

The days of swapping out 9-volts are over. The Acoustasonic Stratocaster comes loaded with a 20-hour integrated battery, rechargeable over USB. This battery allows you to charge and play at the same time — so if you’ve got a portable battery backup, the Acoustasonic can give you days of uninterrupted play time.

The Acoustasonic Strat's USB-rechargeable battery means there are no 9Vs to swap in and out.

A-mazing!

I've had my eye on one of these for a while and finally pulled the trigger last week. It was in my hands the next day and I was able to put some quality time in with it over the extended Labor Day weekend. Put simply, it's an astonishingly well designed high quality instrument. Playability is sublime out of the box. It feels like a really nice Strat strung with acoustic strings. Acoustically it has a little of an arch top sound. Band limited but not "boxy." But, of course, it's meant to be plugged in and that's where it really shines. The active Fishman electronics really condition the pickups to remove that "cheap" sounding piezo quack. The end result is a very very useable amplified acoustic sound and each model is useful. The magnetic pickup flavors are icing on the cake and are convincing as well. The only downsides? A neck humbucker would make this a very good jazz box. As it is with no tone control, there's no way to get a dark arch top type timbre. Also, hopefully Fender offer an after market saddle for an unwound G. 5 stars/A+ Fender!

Quality options galore

The 5 position switch and blend is wasted on me because I find one or two sounds I like and quit searching but this is the ultimate studio guitar. The Fishman guts are top notch but my one complaint is that this guitar feels/plays like a strat. I know this sounds dumb but let me explain.

I bought the highway dreadnought that arrived today and I can't put it down. It feels and plays like an acoustic guitar. I love it. I didn't realize how much the strat feels like a strat...if that makes any sense.

At $2,000, this guitar is a dream for studio or stage if you're looking for a variety of acoustic sounds at your fingertips.

A Grand Slam Home Run!

I got this a few weeks ago, and was already in love with it after our first rehearsal. I waited to do a review until after I played it for a gig. I play in a bar band, and apparently my position is mostly 2nd fiddle. I try to fill all the holes why the others are rock legends. Because of the diversity of our set lists, I found myself changing between an electric and an acoustic guitar way too often. Like every other song often. That was my thought when I purchased the Acoustasonic Strat. This guitar is so much more than just an acoustic and an electric. I have been playing since '64 and have had many different guitars. There really are 10 different, distinct guitar sounds on this thing. Having owned and/or played all of the various acoustic guitar types that are described by the various positions of the controls, all I can say is they nailed it. Fender/Fishman nailed it. This is probably the most versatile guitar I have ever owned. And the electric positions are definitely 100% Stratocaster. It is so cool having the action and feel of a Strat in an acoustic. Since my main electric is an American Pro II Strat, changing from one to the other is so smooth. And there are quite a few times where I don't need to swap guitars because the Acoustasonic has got it covered. I almost always have great expectations for a new guitar, but this one has exceeded all I was hoping for. Do NOT even hesitate if you need an acoustic in your rig. This IS the One!

Super comfortable, great playing guitar

I am primarily an electric player. I was looking for a lightweight, comfortable, low string-tension acoustic guitar for when I just want to sit back on the couch and play, a playing position that is not easy to do with my full-body acoustics. The Acoustasonic Strat fits the bill perfectly. The neck, with it's 12-in radius, is very similar to the neck on my 1983 American Standard Strat, so the neck felt familiar. I find it extremely playable, and the Strat-style body is kind to the rib cage! Clint, my Sweetwater Sales Engineer, helped me pick the lightest weight Fender out of all of the Acoustasonic Strats they had in stock. And by that evening, the guitar was on its way to me. I have had it for almost a month now, and due to the ease of play and accessibility, I play it almost daily, even if just for only 15 minutes. If you are looking for an acoustic guitar to perform with unplugged, this probably is not the one for you. Which is why Fender has the onboard pickups and electronics that model various acoustic guitars. If you're looking for an acoustic guitar that you can play just about anywhere, and especially if you are primarily an electric guitar player and would appreciate similar string tension, you should give an Acoustasonic a try. Of course what we like in a guitar is purely subjective, but I couldn't be happier. And the fact that I pick it up nearly every day after work, I know I found what I was looking for in an acoustic that inspires me to play. You can't ask for more than that.

Not love at 1st sight but everlasting love

Out of the box, it felt like a toy mainly because it's so light weight. I felt a little ripped off by the price...but then I started playing it and experimenting with the sounds. Wow! Definitely worth the price tag. The sound that comes out of this is so mind blowing. Perfect acoustic sounds + perfect electric sounds with no pickup hum + the ability to mix and match? Incredible. Just wow. Of course the neck plays like a dream but some might want it professionally setup. I think it's fine right off the factory floor. Do I think it's worth $? If you use all of its features. Absolutely. If you're looking for a custom sound, eh, maybe worth it. If you're looking for a pure acoustic sound, no way. Go with an acoustic. But if you're like me and like different sounds for different songs or do studio, this is perfect.
