Beautiful Grand Concert Fingerstyle Acoustic from Ibanez

The ACFS300CE from Ibanez is yet another impeccably designed acoustic-electric from their popular Artwood Fingerstyle Collection. This bold Grand Concert acoustic features a solid Engelmann spruce top with okoume back and sides — a tonewood pairing that delivers full, rounded tone that is steeped in rich low end along with crisp highs. In addition, a 5-piece mahogany and pau ferro neck with Macassar ebony fingerboard offer stellar response and playability for a variety of styles including robust flatpicking and finger-style. And when you are ready to plug in, an Ibanez T-Bar undersaddle and Block Contact pickup with Ibanez DP1 preamp kicks out beautifully articulate amplified tone.

Incredible pickup options

The Block Contact pickup on the ACFS300CE is mounted on the neck block, making it highly resistant to feedback. This placement also means that the percussive sound from the body to the neck is captured evenly. In addition, this placement also enhances the brightness and air of the Piezo-style sound by capturing the acoustic tones that resonate naturally in the body. Further, the T-bar under-saddle pickup and its placement capture palm hits and bass drum-like tones — great for experimental, expressive styles of play. And with dual outputs, you can blend these pickups for a wonderful array of tonal expressions — a feature guitarists here at Sweetwater really love.

Fine appointments for enhanced tone

The 5-piece mahogany and pau ferro neck and ebony fingerboard are complemented by a deep, smooth cutaway that lets you access those higher notes. An ebony bridge, unbleached oil-impregnated bone and nut saddle, and scalloped X-bracing are added fine appointments that enhance the tone and resonance of this fine acoustic.

Good instrument for this price range.

Sweetwater is the best online music store. Their level of customer service is superior even to what's offered in person at local Guitar Centers around here.
Luke Herrian is great, both professional and attentive.
The Ibanez is a good no frills guitar. If anything one could spend a bit more and go with the Martin Road Series, but for this price you're getting a spruce top, a very comfortable neck, and a generally well constructed guitar.
The finish is minimal as is obvious in the description.
I'll change the strings and do some tweaking of the neck and intonation, but right out of the box it played decently.
Ibanez is trying some new designs and builds for acoustics in this price range and they're making some nice instruments.

Excellent guitar for the money

Had been looking for a while for a second guitar and have tried a bunch including Martins and Taylors among others. Decided to give this one a shot and have not been disappointed. I play fingerstyle and this guitar fits my requirements perfectly. The concert hall size body projects well with good balance. This guitar has a slightly larger body than a normal concert hall so you get a little more bass out of it. The spruce/okoume combo give it a nice rounded tone. Build quality is good and I really like the tuners. The electronics seem to be high quality but since I never use them, I can't speak to that. Only other things to note are that there are no inlays on the neck so if you're in to that, this guitar will appear pretty plain jane. Also, the neck is little wider at the nut (1.77) which I like but some others may not. So, overall I think this is an excellent guitar for the price, particularly if you play fingerstyle as it is set up nicely for that. And finally, as with all things involving guitars and people, your mileage may vary...
