Very comfortable headphones, but I wouldn't buy these again

Normally I use a pair of wired headphones or IEMs, but sometimes I just need some Bluetooth headphones in my backpack for working at a coffee shop. Something convenient where I don't have to plug in a cable that might get tripped over, or work in/out of my ears when someone speaks to me. That's why I bought this set of headphones.

Firstly, I should say that they are extremely comfortable. I have pretty large ears and they fit over just fine. The pads aren't itchy. The silicone headband is awesome and I'm confident it's going to last a long time and help keep these on my head.

Audio quality is decent, but there's a DSP that's always running that I can't seem to shut off. It sounds like there is a little dynamic compression happening. I've downloaded the configuration app but the settings are limited. There is a 5-band EQ, and a switch to go between active noise cancellation and hearing the outside world. There is no option to turn off active noise cancellation and the outside world both. You get one or the other.

It's also not possible to adjust the level of the mics, so if you're listening to music and you want the 'transparency' mode, someone has to basically yell for you to hear them. You can't adjust the mix to your liking.

This behavior might be fine for your use. In my case, it's good enough, just a little annoying that better capabilities are undoubtedly available, just locked away behind an app. It's configurable over Bluetooth LE so perhaps it's possible to make an alternative unofficial app... I might look into that.

Finally, let's talk about the overall build quality. These headphones are not made by Sennheiser. They're made by Sonova, and the Sennheiser brand is licensed to them. Regardless, you can tell these are different than other Sennheiser headphones I've owned. I'm quite sure they'll break if not treated well. The earphone cups do not click and fold into the headband area, so they're bulky and not collapsible. The buttons are very small and feel pretty cheap. I'm sure I'll get used to it in time, but yeah. And, forget about controlling the buttons with gloves on.

I'm okay with this purchase, but I'd probably buy something else if I were looking again.
