Ashdown's 750-watt UK-made Magnifier Head

The Ashdown ABM-750 EVO V is the latest evolution of the company's vaunted ABM platform. This 750-watt, tube-loaded goliath promises to be the most dynamic bass amp head in Ashdown's storied history. The ABM-750 EVO V contains an impressive cache of tone-enhancing features, such as a 9-band EQ for meticulous sound shaping, plus variable valve drive, a sub-harmonic generator, and a muscular onboard compressor. You also get mains voltage switching, temperature-controlled low-noise cooling, a top-shelf, transformer-isolated DI output, and VU meters for both your input and output signals. The bassists here at Sweetwater really appreciate the ABM-750 EVO V's FX loop, SpeakON speaker outputs, and line input. The ABM-750 EVO V comes complete with a stealthy all-black design — exactly what you need for a stage-ready, anonymous backline. For solid bass tone with variable tube grind and a pro-level feature set, you can't go wrong with the Ashdown ABM-750 EVO V.

Replete with tone-enhancing features

The Ashdown ABM-750 EVO V makes dialing in a showstopping tone easy. Its ingenious 9-band EQ section starts — but doesn't end with — standard Bass, Middle, and Treble rotary knobs. You also get six additional sliders between the knobs, enabling you to sculpt your sound into just about any form you can imagine. This bass amp head's variable Valve Drive control dials in everything from clean and punchy to warm to all-out grind. You also get a sub-harmonic generator that yields thunderous, rafter-shaking sounds that are guaranteed to leave an impression, along with a brawny onboard compressor.

Ashdown delivers the modern bass sound

With a solid artist roster that includes Adam Clayton of U2, James Jamerson, Jr., and the late, great John Entwistle of The Who, Ashdown delivers the sound of modern bass. Launched in 1996, the company has been guided by a singular vision: doing it right. We know you need reliable amplification, and Ashdown amps are built for serious tour-grade abuse. Whether tube or solid-state circuits (or both) are employed, Ashdown amps serve up punchy, powerful tone with remarkable transparency and deep, controlled low end, along with exceptional mid-band attack and high-end brilliance. Take the stage with bass equipment that won’t let you down. Rock with Ashdown.

Delivers more power and dynamics

"Like everything we do, the ABM EVO V is developed in response to the needs of our customers. An increasing number of players have been asking if we can bridge the dual output sections of our ABM 1200 head. The new ABM EVO V answers that need for more power and dynamics." — Mark Gooday, founder/owner, Ashdown Engineering

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Awesome Amp

Waited a long time to get one of these. They are extremely powerful and maintain excellent clarity at high volumes. Built to last and the weight of it is less than that of a full tube amp. Thanks to Greg for hooking me up with it and making me wait until it showed up and not jump the gun on something else. I highly recommend this amp if you're looking for a powerful, versatile amp.

Sounds amazing, plays amazing.

Probably the closest you will get to tube amp tone in solid state. Sounds big and fat with a lot of depth. The smallest adjustment to any of the EQ controls will make a noticeable change in the tonal characteristics, and that's a very good thing.

The real strength in the amp is it's high frequency representation. Don't be afraid to crank the treble, you'll be glad you did. And, the built in tube driver, compressor, and sub-harmonic octaver sound awesome. I took the SansAmp tech21, Mini Pog, and Markbass Compressore off of my board and replaced them with the Ashdown footswitch. Just be sure to run any other effect you have (envelope filter, delay, etc) through the FX loop for best results if you decide to do it too.

The dual VU meters is a feature I never knew I needed until I had it. The ability to dial-in and maintain the perfect tone by monitoring the meter levels is an absolute game changer.

It's a little bigger and heavier than other solid state amp heads with comparable power output, but I personally don't mind it at all and you probably won't either: The sound is just too good. Don't hesitate, buy it.

Follow up to my review.

Just got the amp back from warranty service. "No more static noise". Woo Hoo ! As they said, they mailed me a " Made in England Sticker" which I faithfully applied to the back of amp where it said"Made in China". So now it's "Made in England" Woo Hoo. The amp sounds like a million bucks ! The valve drive sounds like a million bucks. And I am a happy camper. Great Amp ! I recommend highly .......... Thanks Ashdown.

Where is it made ?

I bought one of these amps new about two months ago. I love the sound of this amp. However whew I employ the "Valve Drive I get a loud nasty static that makes the valve drive unusable. Also, When I get the amp. The box say's "Made in England". When I pull it out if the bow it say's "Made in China ". I bought this amp specifically because it was "Made in England" I contacted Ashdown and informed them of these issues. They told me that these amps were indeed "Made in England" and that they were "miss labeled". They also told me that they were having new labels printed and would be sending me one to re - affix to the amp. They also said that they will be sending me parts to bring in to the warranty repair shop to have installed. Todays date is 12/16/2022. I will update this review at a later date for the customer service aspect.

Ashdown has really bad customer service

I received my Ashdown ABM 750 in June, It came from the factory with a valve drive issue, overall I thought the amp sounded decent so I decided to keep it and have ashdown repair the amp, 4 months later no word from Ashdown. Everything is being done through sweetwater and Ashdown also hasn't informed Sweetwater. From my perspective they have extremely poor customer service especially when this is a 1700 dollar amp head. I'm my opinion it's better to deal with a manufacturer that will stand behind their products like Gallien Kruger or Bergantino
