Vintage Jazzbox Tones

The Guild A-150 Savoy hollowbody electric guitar embodies the simplicity of classic "jazz box" guitars. Created from laminated flame maple back and sides with a solid, arched spruce top, the A-150 Savoy has the look and feel of a vintage instrument. And the tone is as warm and inviting as you'd expect, courtesy of a specially-voiced DeArmond 1000 floating pickup. White binding on the body and fretboard enhances the old-school look. For rich, vibrant, jazzy tones, it's hard to beat the value in the Guild A-150 Savoy hollowbody electric guitar.

Based on a '50s classic

The A-150 Savoy is reminiscent of the late-'50s Guild orchestra model, a classic hollowbody electric guitar. Boasting a body made of laminated flame maple and solid spruce, and combined with a special DeArmond pickup, the A-150 Savoy is everything you'd expect from a vintage jazz box.

Rich tone from a custom-voiced DeArmond floating pickup

Popular from the '30s through the '60s, DeArmond pickups were a very popular choice for amplifying acoustic hollowbody guitars. The A-150 Savoy sports a custom-voiced DeArmond 1000 floating pickup in the neck position, and it's got the warm, smoky glow you've heard on countless jazz recordings.

3-piece neck for long-lasting playability

Multi-piece necks are stronger and more rigid than single-piece necks, resisting twisting and warping over the years. Treat it well, and you'll get a lifetime of exceptional playability from the Guild A-150 Savoy hollowbody.

Guild A-150 Savoy Hollowbody Electric Guitar Features:

  • Vintage-voiced hollowbody electric guitar with custom-voiced pickup
  • DeArmond 1000 floating pickup gives you warm, smoky jazz tones
  • Exceptional tone and looks from laminated flame maple back/sides and solid arched spruce top
  • 3-piece mahogany/maple/mahogany neck for long-term playability
  • Grover Sta-Tite tuners give you excellent tuning stability
  • Hard case included

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Beautiful archtop guitar

The Savoy A-150 archtop guitar is a beautiful instrument, the fit and finish are great. The neck feels perfect in my hand and the acoustic sound is perfect for playing without an amp. I have not played this yet through my amplifier as I purchased it more for acoustic than amplified playing but I will get to that shortly.
Sweetwater did a wonderful job setting up the guitar, action and intonation are spot on.
This is a keeper, you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful

Beautiful instrument. Had to return because of a small problem, but refund eventually came in full.

What a sweet guitar!

Love this guitar. It fits in so well with the big band I play with. Real mellow sound but it shoots right through all the brass. The neck is great and the 12's (strings) really sound full, not twangy at all.

Great as aslways

I owned one of the earlier ones with the clear volume knob in 2018. Just recently got this newer one from Sweetwater. It seems to me today's guitar is a better build with the same great sound. The addition of hidden tone control is a big plus. The case is also a lot better. This is a great value for a professional jazz guitar. It also sounds darned good with roundwound 10s as a blues beast. Just make sure you dig the 9.5 radius that's a bit unusual for a jazz box.
Music background: Irritate the neighbors

Amazing Jazz Axe

I had my Sales Engineer Ben Davis pick out what he thought was the perfect Guild A-150 Savoy from the four that I could choose from. As always Ben did not disappoint me. I received a beautiful A-150 that I had Plek'd and its playability and tone are second to none. I could not get over how well this guitar is constructed. it is perfect and sounds as well as it looks. The guitar is made in South Korea and shows immaculate craftsmanship. I compared this to the Heritage Eagle and cannot at this time in my musical journey find any reason why I would change guitars. I am totally happy with this axe. My thanks to Sweetwater and again to Ben for an outstanding instrument.
