Deep and Full Vintage Flatwound Tone

La Bella's Flatwound Deep Talkin' Bass strings became a top choice for professional bass players way back in the 1950s, and their popularity has never flagged. Made from hand-polished stainless steel, these flatwound bass strings deliver a profoundly deep and vibrant tone with all the sustain you could ask for, and they retain their tone well after standard flatwounds have gone dead. No strings on the market play as smooth on a standard electric bass, and they feel absolutely luxurious on a fretless. If you're in the market for superior flatwound strings, La Bella's Flatwound Deep Talkin' Bass strings are it.

Centuries of expertise in each set of La Bella strings

La Bella strings are the top choice for musicians ranging from world-famous artists such as Willie Nelson, Bryan Adams, and Ron Carter to everyday players like many of us here at Sweetwater. Their heritage reaches back to the Mari family of Salle, Italy, in the 17th century, and they became famous throughout Europe, even supplying violin strings to Amati and Stradivari. In the early 20th century, brothers Emilio and Olinto Mari moved the string operation to New York, founding the modern La Bella company. Today, La Bella strings are considered among the finest in the world, and we think you'll agree when you hear what they can do for your favorite instrument.

My go-to.

What can I say? If you haven't dropped the scratch to sling your bass with these, you are missing out. I've been using LaBella stainless steel flats for years. They sound great and last forever. I found, for my target sound, they reach the sweet spot after a year. I have a bass that has a set I installed back in 2017. Not as bright but still full with sustain.
Music background: Drums, bass, guitar, various percussion.

The Right Stuff

These strings are top notch! Everything about them is truly great. The feel, the sustain, the "thump". They reside on a Fender P-Bass that I use for a 60's Rock and Roll band that I perform with. We also cover Pop and Soul from the same era. The strings help bring out the sound of that Music.
PS- make sure to get the correct length. If you use a thru-body bridge you'll need the TB.
Also, many kudos to the entire Sweetwater community. My Sales Engineer, Matt Christopherson, called me shortly after my order was placed to see how I was doing and if I needed anything else. Matt has been my Sales Engineer for a while and has been very supportive and helpful.
I'm a Sweetwater customer for life.
Music background: Local and Touring Professional.

I'm back to LaBella

I have a string-though bass (Kiesel) and had always used standard strings and was surprised to learn that strings can break where they wrap up over the tail of the bridge. These particular strings have short stockings at the bridge end that are just long enough to insulate the bend at the bridge but fall short of the saddle. Thus, the string vibration energy is preserved inside the body and at the saddle while protecting the string at the sharp bend. I see no degradation of the bass and the tone is great. In fact, the volume is louder than my previous strings and they sound really consistent string to string. That is something I could not say about my previous strings from a big name company who talks a big line about string to string consistency. And while the LaBellas cost a bit more they last a long time. I keep records and the last LaBella strings lasted 2 years, longer than any other string I have used. I won't bother to experiment with other strings anymore. I'll just stay with LaBella.

LaBella Flatwound

I thought the Fender Flatwound's were smooth to the fingers, nope. These are very smooth and have a awesome tones to them. Highly recommend.

These flatwounds on my Fender American P-Bass for the Win!

This is my first purchase of the La Bella 760FS-TB Deep Talkin'Bass flatwounds and I will never use any other strings on my Fender American P-Bass. I went with the 45-105 set which matched my old strings so no setup work was needed. If you change string gauge, you'll need to have a setup check done. Also, make sure you get the correct through body or no through body set depending on your bass. These strings changed the whole sound (and feel for me) of this bass for the better. I play in a rock band and these strings have a great low, growly tone and zero string noise. The first time I played Never Been to Spain, I knew I was gonna love these strings. If you're on the fence about whether to try these or not, just go for it. You won't regret it at all.
