Immaculate Re-creation of a Legend
From its chunky ’64-profile neck, split-diamond inlays, and in-line headstock to its unique trapeze tailpiece, the Gibson Custom 1964 Trini Lopez Standard Reissue Ultra-Light Aged semi-hollow electric guitar delivers the authentic tone and playability of Trini’s original signature axe, while its exquisite Murphy Lab aged finish gives you the look and feel of a cherished vintage treasure. Basing the design on Gibson’s timeless semi-hollowbody platform with a sustain-enhancing, feedback-fighting center block, the company’s elite Custom Shop luthiers exhaustively pored over scans of the coveted prototypes to bring you a guitar, as a ’60s Gibson advertisement stated, “as exciting as the young performer who helped create it.” A laminated maple body with elongated diamond sound holes paired with a mahogany set neck featuring a non-reverse Firebird headstock give this sumptuous instrument serious stage and studio credibility, while its dual Custom Bucker pickups serve up a veritable smorgasbord of tone. A Plek’d Indian rosewood fretboard with rolled binding gives the Gibson Custom 1964 Trini Lopez Standard Reissue Ultra-Light a smooth, precision feel to accommodate a range of playing styles.

VOS patina hardware puts the final touch on this exquisite instrument.
Legendary tone from Alnico III Custom Buckers
Guitarists at Sweetwater absolutely adore the Custom Shop Alnico III Custom Bucker pickups in the ’64 Trini Lopez Standard Reissue Ultra-Light. Each with its own volume and tone controls, these unpotted pickups will let you nail chimey country licks as easily as you dial in searing rock tones. Catnip for tube amplifiers, these Custom Buckers deliver classic tone for everything from warm jazz to dirty blues. And handwired with CTS audio taper pots and paper-in-oil capacitors, you’ll have nearly endless tone-shaping control at your fingertips.
Handcrafted by Gibson’s elite luthiers
Painstakingly handcrafted by Gibson’s elite luthiers in the company’s Nashville Custom Shop using only the finest materials, the 1964 Trini Lopez Standard Reissue — like every Gibson Custom guitar — is optimized for playability before leaving the factory. The fingerboard is polished and beveled with rolled edges before being bound, then given the Plek Pro treatment. Plek Pro is a state-of-the-art, computer-guided process that analyzes neck relief and the height of the nut and bridge. The machine then scans, levels, and dresses your guitar’s frets to a microscopic level of accuracy for perfect intonation and ideal action with no fret buzz, loss of sustain, or fretting out when bending strings. This guitar’s Plek’d frets ensure that every note in every position rings true and clear with unblemished tone.
