Awesome Godin

First of all, Thank you customer service of the department who rushed my order for my daughter's birthday. She fell in love with Godin Guitar, and she said it fixed her palm and shape. The sound was so good and lightweight. The tone was warm and clear.

KINGPIN!

Really liking this guitar. I've been playing for more than 40 years and have owned a lot go guitars. I usually play solid bodies at this point, but had a project that needed a different, more "wooden" and tactile feel. After trying a few viable instruments I decided to take a lookout the 5th Avenue. I did this based on my experience with a Godin A6 Ultra. The 5th Avenue is very playable, it is very quick to respond to fingers on the strings and has a really warm and wooden resonance. I spend most of my time on the neck pickup, it does however have a pretty versatile tonal range when moving through the pickup menu. It also responds very much to where you attack the strings, and to whether you are using fingers or a pick.
The guitar did need a little tweaking to get it to set right, but once a few minor things were ironed out it came to life and was really nice. Sweetwater did respond very quickly and positively to the problem, but I was able to take care of it myself. Again it was a very minor problem.
As an aside I will say that this was my first trip into Sweetwater's shop, and I was really knocked out by the enormity of the place, and the outstanding knowledge and manners of the staff there. A young man named Cam Curtis was my sales engineer, and guided me through this entire process and even followed up with me a couple of times to make sure I was pleased with my new instrument.

string holder ..... oops!! ..... very poor design, & shoddy on a guitar like this .....

i have reviewed this guitar previously, noting as others, its fine build quality and beautiful wood and finish. i did object to the supplied strings as being very stiff and hard to fret. but, the tone and was nice, and the guitar was easy to play, and the frets nicely done and flushed.

i decided to re-string the guitar. and, herein lies a major complaint.-- the string holder is an abomination, and very poorly designed. shoddy. the strings are prevented from falling out of the bottom of it with a small piece of cloth/leather/?? with an adhesive surface theoretically sticking to the bottom. i say "theoretically," because that little piece of leather/cloth/?? fell off the bottom of the holder on my guitar, making it very difficult to fit the smaller strings in place, and to keep them in place while tightening the string.

my little black adhesive backed thingie now sits on my desk, its place taken by a strip of scotch tape. this should not happen on a guitar which sold from sweetwater at $.
Music background: duffer, self taught, progressing at my age, oddly enough. rome wasn't built in a day, you know.
