High quality plectrum

Primetone is Dunlop's answer to those ridiculously overpriced boutique picks. The whole product concept is fantastic and set to become extremely popular.
I've tried hundreds of picks over the past 25 years, all different sizes, gauges, and materials. This 2.5mm Standard Smooth just FEELS the best to me. Perfect thickness, by the way. I was looking for something with ZERO flex for accurate picking, strumming, digging in, and generally beating the living crap out of my strings.
As a side note, I ordered these along with the 2.5mm translucent amber "grip" version.
Because these picks are made of Ultex, they already have a grippy matte texture to them that keeps them in the fingers, so I don't really miss the grip. Now there's no avoiding "The Chirp" when using a stiff, hard pick against plain metal guitar strings. To my ears, these have a warmer tone with a softer attack than the amber "grip" ones. Not nylon soft, still some chirp, but these feel so good that I plan on building a whole rig around them to compensate. THAT'S how much I like 'em!
The initialed "hand beveled by" insert adds a nice, personal touch to the product. The bevels provide a fast, smooth release and more control. As a cool bonus, the highest pinch harmonics (some I didn't know were there) now come out with ease. These picks really made my guitar sound alive.
BOTTOM LINE
Excellent product. Definitely not a beginner's pick. I'd say this beefy plectrum is for the experienced player who has the drive to become a super picker. Ideal for heavy strings and aggressive playing where you want to bring out every possible harmonic and dynamic nuance out of your axe.
Thick Pick Trick -- Another Perspective!
But what really does it for me now is the Primetone .73 and .88 gauge. I try to have several of these in a pick holder (or desensitized duct tape) right next to me for those excessively reckless abandon moments of hurling a pick six feet into the air (a crowd pleasing moment--hopefully adding more green to the tip jar).
Sure wish they'd sell these in lots of 100 with a discount. (Hint, hint)
