Encore’s Pioneering Design
A true centerpiece of Encore Mallets’ “mallet hall of fame,” the Yarn series showcases the original 1982 mallet design that propelled the company to widespread success and acclaim, all the while catching the ears of statured percussionists like Nancy Zeltsman. These mallets’ 3-layer build starts with an internal hard rubber core, which is then wrapped in latex before finally being wound in wool yarn. Percussionists at Sweetwater love how this mallet exhibits the ideal blend of articulation and tonal focus while keeping the attack soft enough to satisfy the classically glassy and undeniably smooth tones of marimba and vibraphone. Available in six different degrees of hardness with either birch or rattan shafts, there really is a Yarn series mallet for everyone!
Note: The 42YB yarn mallets feature medium-hard heads with birch handles. Other configurations are available. Please consult your Sweetwater Sales Engineer for questions or concerns.
