Mackie is a Proven Leader in Analog Mixers

Beyond sounding great, the Mackie 402VLZ4 mixer is one piece of gear you can truly rely on. It continues the VLZ Series' trend for rock-solid construction, while taking your sound quality to a new level. You've got an amazingly wide dynamic range, incredible 60dB gain range on the Onyx microphone preamplifiers, and ultra-low-noise performance. The 402VLZ4 also boasts better-than-ever RF rejection for prime performance in broadcast situations. And with high-resolution meters, generous I/O, and sealed rotary controls that keep out dust and grime, the Mackie 402VLZ4 is one of Mackie's best mixers ever.

Mackie 402VLZ4 4-channel Mixer at a Glance:
  • Premium-quality mixer with proven components
  • Sealed rotary controls ensure long-term reliability
  • Incredible sound quality
Premium-quality mixer with proven components

The Mackie 402VLZ4 is, first and foremost, a Mackie mixer. It houses two of Mackie's premium-quality Onyx mic preamps for natural, transparent sound, and one stereo channel. Its mic/line channels are equipped with a 2-band EQ. Signal routing is easy and flexible. On top of all that, the Mackie 402VLZ4 is built Mackie-tough - trust this mixer to perform even in the most harrowing situations.

Sealed rotary controls ensure long-term reliability

Sure, the Mackie 402VLZ4 mixer will shrug off bumps, drops, and outright abuse, but what about spills or rain? Thankfully, the 402VLZ4 boasts sealed rotary controls that resist grime, dust, and anything else that may spill onto your mixer. We're not saying it's fully waterproof, but it's an extra level of protection you'll eventually be very glad you have when you're running live sound in a hectic environment.

Incredible sound quality

VLZ stands for "very low noise", and that's just part of the appeal of the Mackie 402VLZ4 mixer. In all you've got a 128.5dB dynamic range, making it easy to achieve full, punchy mixes. The Onyx mic preamps have a 60dB gain range, so you can get the best out of virtually any microphone. And because the 402VLZ4's line inputs handle +22 dBu signal levels, you can connect high-output sound sources without worrying about distorting your inputs.

Mackie 402VLZ4 4-channel Mixer Features:
  • Amazingly rugged analog mixer with two microphone preamplifiers and one stereo channel
  • Onyx mic preamps offer up to 60dB of gain for great performance with any mic
  • Ultra-low-noise performance gives you clean, clear sound
  • High-resolution stereo meters give you fast, easy visual indication of your signal levels
  • Sealed rotary controls resist dust and grime

It's hard to beat the sound and performance of the Mackie 402VLZ4!

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!

Perfect first mixer
I decided to add a mixer to my home studio. I am so glad I chose this one. Every I/O is being utilized. I have use DI out of an amp into input one and a mic into input two. I have a line out that takes up inputs three and four. The tape outs are connected to a 4 track recorder and then I monitor with headphones or Mackie monitors. So basically this interface connects up everything important to me. It is very easy to learn to set gain and levels and the little extras like low cut and instrument buttons are a nice touch. The manual is very well written and easy to get through quickly. If I ever need to upgrade, I will get another Mackie.

Last thing on my board
I'm a worship player on a silent stage. My pedal board is stereo. This is so small I have it last on my board. By pressing the little button with the flying V guitar on it at the top of channels 1 & 2....it converts those channels to a DI channel. This is essentially a DI Box with Eq and the ability to build presets with perfect volume levels. At home, I run straight from my pedal board out to 2 FrFr Headrush Monitors...I come out of my laptop into channel 3 and learn songs. Until somebody comes up with a DI Box that is stereo that has level meters.....this is the only product on the planet that acts as a DI to FOH that is also a mixer with stereo level meters.
Perfect size and quality
I am using this mixer to run my keys through a single EV ZX1A power PA speaker as a monitor, from there I take a direct out to the PA. I had been going from keys direct to the speaker, but different boards have different output levels and native EQ's. Problem solved with this small mixer where I can run in mono and get terrific boost and tweak my EQ to the room. And now can add a separate board. Can even split the output of my MOXF8 when doing bass lines and add a separate speaker, all with this little beast. Best buy in a while.
Music background: Classic Rock, Jazz and Fusion
Just the right size
Sometimes you need some signal processing (such as going into a video switcher) but you don't want excess features that just confuse other people. This unit can fix problems coming from upstream and provide alternative paths into the stream if needed. The quality is good and is inexpensive enough to add it to your problem-solving kit.
I’m glad I bought it
One of these, a great mixer, makes everything sound better.
