Use a pair for triamplified 3-way stereo crossover....works well.

I use a pair of these 223XL crossovers to control a large (for home use, about 8 cu.ft., ) system including 4 classic Smaller Advent woofers, user choice of Bozak B209b aluminum midranges OR 4 Advent fried egg tweeters (as midranges...these things never really tweeted) and an EPI inverted dome tweeter (to be replaced soon with a Human tweeter of similar design). It's marvelous to be able to adjust the sound profiles and set the gains. With each driver operating only in its intended range (and none of them ever stressed) there is very little distortion. The amplifier complement to this system is Soundcraftsmen MA2002 on the woofers, Son of Ampzilla on the mids (operating almost always in Class A mode) and a choice of tweeter amps. Into the various loads (4 ohms nominal for woofers, 8 for mid and tweet) this works out to about 500 watts/channel, with no amp ever having to respond to a sudden fast attack while it is simultaneously delivering a lot of current to some low frequency. Typical setpoints are woofer-to-mid at ~300 Hz and midrange to tweeter at ~2500. These drivers were used in their manufacturer's intended systems at down to ~300 Hz and down to ~1800 Hz, respectively, but that was with simple 6 db/octave slopes. At 24 db/octave, nothing is ever stressed. I traded in an Ashley crossover for this one because it had a bass cut-off...no need with this system, with in-the-box resonance about 35Hz and slow acoustic suspension roll-off below that. In principle, I should run directly from A/D converter into the crossovers, but as a matter of convenience I use a Soundcraftsmen preamp (that probably should be re-capped).

Likes: it's analog. Dislike: the frequency selectors come in unusual steps...e.g., 6 detents for 240 to 350. What's that? 110 Hz/6 = about 17 Hz.

Dbx223 x-over

great unit for operation and sound quality. has one of the worst turn off thumps i have ever seen in a piece of electronics. that could be eliminated by better circuit design.

Help with DBX Crossover

We had a gentleman named Jimmy Shanks come out to our church to help us with a problem with our sound. He told us the problem and gave us Sweetwater's phone number. My husband spoke with Trevor at Sweetwater. He was very nice, respectful and knowledgeable. He helped us with everything we needed and got it shipped right out to us. Not only that, he called us to see how everything was working. That's good customer service.

Thank you Trevor and Sweetwater.
