This Compact Cardioid Mic Is a Solid Performer

Close-miking just got a whole lot easier, thanks to the DPA 2011C. Integrating an MMC2011 capsule and MMP-C compact preamp, this twin-diaphragm cardioid microphone yields impressive clarity, richness, and dynamic range. The 2011C is built for the stage, exhibiting excellent separation and stellar gain-to-feedback performance. On top of that, you'll experience fast transient response, outstanding SPL handling, and superb frequency response. The 2011C is incredibly flexible — its modular design allows you to swap out its capsule or preamp for other d:dicate or d:facto components.

MMC2011 twin-diaphragm cardioid microphone capsule

Combining the acclaimed sound quality of DPA's d:dicate mics and the convenience of their d:screet and d:fine series, the MMC2011 capsule achieves a tremendously balanced sound. Featuring two opposite-facing miniature capsules rolled into a single unit, the MMC2011 delivers the advantages of small capsules with the lower inherent noise exhibited by larger diaphragms. You can expect superb transient and frequency response, as well as impressive SPL handling from this microphone capsule.

MMP-C compact microphone preamp

The MMP-C compact preamp features active drive for impedance balancing, and exhibits a slightly softer character than the other preamps in DPA's d:dicate series. It injects the DPA 2011C with incredible clarity, richness, and dynamic range — a serious step up from miniature FET preamps.

The d:dicate series provides serious flexibility

The 2011C is part of DPA's versatile d:dicate series. This series allows you to mix and match capsules and preamps, so that you can achieve the sound and performance you're striving for. It sounds complicated, but it's not. In fact, at Sweetwater we've found that these mics are painfully simple to set up. Imagine being able to effortlessly transform your microphone into a completely different configuration. And no tools are required!

Bought one ended up buying another!

Impressed. Very impressed. As I progress in recording I am shooting to improve the source capture. This mic hit on the spot. My first recording was a ukelele. Wow! Clean transparent. Barely had to eq in the mix.

This mic is a jewel.

Buy this mic.

Of all the mic choices available in this day and age, why buy the DPA 2011C? Because it sounds fantastic and is built to withstand your entire career. The small form factor allows critical placement and the wide, clear, yet musical tonal capture is all you could ask for in a mic. Toss it into a kick drum on a towel. I do. Point it at the snare. Crack and whoomp. Shoot it across the 12th fret pointed at the soundhole and bathe in the clarity and fullness. String quartet? Easy. In other words, use it as the incredibly versatile tool that it is. If you can't capture a pristine and gigantic sound with this mic, you really need to consider a new profession/hobby. :)

A Great Entry Into Recording With DPA Microphones

I am a long time DPA user. I found these microphones to be a very solid and cost effective entry into recording with DPA microphones. I used a pair in a near coincident configuration to record string quartet, and I was very impressed with the results. They provided a very musical, true to life sound.

Best of the best

After using this mic on pretty much everything from Drums, Percussion and Overheads Live all the way to Nylon guitars and Ukuleles in the studio, I can honestly say that is by far the best mic for any job. I highly recommend it.

Awesome SDC

Love all DPA microphones, but the 2011C is particularly versatile. Sounds great on Snare, guitar and bass amps and pretty much everything else you throw at it.
