Versatile 20" Crash

The Paiste 20" 2002 Crash rocks. This is the definitive rock crash sound: warm, full, and shimmering. It delivers even response with medium sustain.

The Paiste 2002 series

This is the sound of rock. Introduced in 1971, Paiste's 2002 series cymbals defined the sound of classic rock. Paiste has continued to develop the line, and today these cymbals are heard in virtually every flavor of electric music. Made with CuSn8 Bronze (aka 2002 Bronze), 2002 cymbals are very versatile and work great in a wide variety of musical settings, including classic rock, blues, punk, hard rock, heavy and progressive metal, fusion, country rock, ska, rockabilly, funk, R&B, soul, and gospel. The sound is brilliant and clear, warm and strong, with powerful projection.

Paiste - a tradition of innovation

Headquartered in Switzerland, Paiste meets the creative needs of drummers and percussionists with innovative cymbals, gongs, and bronze percussion instruments. Founded at the beginning of the 20th Century, Paiste lays claim to a number of cymbal firsts, including the first use of 8% bronze, the wavy-edged hi-hat bottom cymbal, the bell-less flat ride, unlathed hammered cymbals, color-coated cymbals, China cymbals with a downturned edge, and the invention of their Signature Bronze Alloy. World-class drummers such as Bill Bruford, Stewart Copeland, and Vinnie Colaiuta have long relied on Paiste cymbals to forge their signature sounds - and you can, too!

Paiste 20" 2oo2 Crash

The cymbal is a fantastic crash and crash/ride option. It's got that Paiste shimmer and glassiness and focus. It's not super heavy, so it opens up without really laying into it. This would be a 5 star review if not for the whole process of getting the cymbal. The first cymbal I received was damaged on the edge due to insufficient packing and (probably) UPS handling. So I had to return it and get another. The second one was packed properly and arrived undamaged. Apart from that, everything is good. Sweetwater handled the return just fine, but packing cymbals properly in the first place would eliminate the hassles of the return process. The other fortunate thing in this case is that Paiste has very strict quality control and sonic tolerances within each model. One 20" 2oo2 crash sounds pretty much just like every other one, so you don't necessarily have to play it before you buy it. But that is mostly idiosyncratic to Paiste; otherwise I always play my cymbals before I buy them (or watch a video of the *exact* cymbal I'm buying). If you need a bigger crash and/or a crash/ride and you're looking for high end shimmer and the Paiste sound, this is a good option.

Great Cymbal

I play classic rock and the Paiste 2002 line fits perfect in the mix. I do a lot of wash riding and this big 20" crash is great for that.
