Revisit Prewar Adirondack Tone with an Exclusive Martin 000!

Martin’s exquisite spin on the historic 000 body shape plays like a dream! This 000-28 Style Herringbone acoustic guitar boasts the top-notch tone and looks of an Adirondack spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, abalone inlays, a herringbone rosette, and over 20 other appointments that set 28 Style acoustics apart. The 000 body shape is a favorite for studios and stages, with slim dimensions, a dynamic voice, and excellent focus. This model’s vintage-inspired “Modified V” profile neck carve greatly enhances note accuracy with a bit of extra anchor space for your thumb, space that keeps inversions, blues licks, bass walks, and more within easy reach. The 000’s slightly shortened 24.9-inch scale length further enhances comfort and is a favorite for picking and fingerstyle. As a bonus, the guitar’s ebony fingerboard receives a complimentary Plek process for perfectly level frets and unmatched playability. Get ready to relish a new vintage-inspired acoustic packed to the gills with premium tone and looks. This special 000-28 is available only at Sweetwater, and quantities are limited. Act fast to secure yours!

Vintage-inspired tonewoods meet Martin 000 comfort

A quality acoustic guitar is all about the wood, and the Martin 28 Style Herringbone 000 serves up only the best with a vintage pairing of rosewood and Adirondack spruce. Many builders, including Martin, made Adirondack their go-to tonewood for tops prior to World War II, which means this guitar has a slightly warmer and more rustic tenor compared to a modern Sitka spruce top. With vintage Martins fetching ever-exorbitant prices, this Adirondack top delivers timely access to prewar tone without costing a fortune. East Indian rosewood The back and sides are crafted from East Indian rosewood for stunning clarity, focus, and depth that’s nostalgic and warm, just like a Martin should be. Sweetwater guitarists find Martin 000 sonics invaluable in the studio, especially for layering that adds lush dimensions without overwhelming your mix. Moreover, this guitar’s ebony fingerboard hammers home Martin’s to exceptional wood commitments with an au natural finish that’s free of dye and lets ebony’s natural grain shine true.

Plek’d to perfection

Premium Martin guitars like the 000-28 are Plek’d for fret consistency and smoothness. Plek Pro is a state-of-the-art, computer-guided process that scans, levels, and dresses your guitar’s frets to a microscopic level of accuracy for ideal action with no loss of sustain, minimized fret buzz, and no fretting out when bending strings, whether you’re playing low or high on the neck. The 000-28’s Plek’d frets ensure that every note in every position rings loud and clear with unblemished tone.

The groundbreaking Martin Auditorium model

Martin fanciers will duly note that 000 (Auditorium) instruments share body dimensions with the company's OM (Orchestra Model) guitars — the main difference between the two being the OM's longer scale length. Prior to the Orchestra Model, Martin guitars had the same 12th-fret neck-joint design as the instruments Christian Frederick Martin Sr. handcrafted during the 1830s. They were similar in shape, tone, and volume to today's classical guitars, although most of them were converted from gut to steel strings by the close of the 1920s.

Interestingly, Martin's Orchestra Model guitars came about thanks, in part, to the banjo. In the interest of keeping up with the trends (and being heard), banjo pickers — the primary rhythm keepers in bands of the era — became interested in steel-stringed guitars, which were more resonant (and at least as loud) than their banjos. Banjo players were also used to long, narrow necks, so Martin responded with the first 14-fret flat-top designed expressly for steel strings. Debuting in 1930, Martin's Orchestra Model was the prototype for the modern steel-string acoustic guitar. During the winter of 1933–34, Martin phased out the OM in favor of the 000 — essentially a short-scale OM with a wider nut. And this is the historical significance of the superb 000-28 we are privileged to present to you.

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Amazing Martin Guitar

Wanted to love the HD28 Adirondack ... the OOO fit me so much better. Greg Baum in Ft Wayne is an amazing representative for Sweetwater. For shorter arms the OOO made finger picking, strumming and playing melody so much easier. The HD , well there's just more to reach over, and it sets higher. (IMO) Greg - thanks for making my first Martin Guitar purchase such a good experience!!!

This is a stunning guitar!

Martin guitars have been a part of my life for 59 years. I started as a preteen playing my uncle's '54 D-28. Then, he purchased a '74 D-41. My family traveled and played gospel music from the mid 1960s through the early 1980s. So, I was immersed in the music experience and quality instruments at an early age. I was able to purchase my own Martin HD-28 in 1988. Although I may be over my obsession with "D" size guitars, I'm not over Martin guitars! This guitar is my first time to own a "000" guitar. I'm smitten! I was a little uptight about buying something so unfamiliar and sight unseen. But, this experience was wonderful. Evan Mehre and Sweetwater are a pleasure to deal with. They really go the extra mile to get you right.

In my very humble opinion…I believe that Martin is producing guitars at the same quality that they have throughout their history. If Sweetwater ever has this same type model(Adirondack top and 1 11/16 nut width) in an "OM" configuration, I'm in! I'll then have a matching pair.
Music background: Gospel music, country lead and pedal steel, and Christian ministry.

I’ve waited a long time for this

Great guitar . As soon as I saw Adirondack top and braces with a nut width of 1 11/16" I had to get one . Martin makes a beautiful and great sounding guitar . Thanks to Brett and Jeff for all their help.

28 style 000 is a fine instrument

What can I say about this Martin. The fit and finish is great. The Adirondack top and bracing makes notes jump out on attack. I have a 000-18 and a Taylor 517, always have been a mahogany guy, but I wanted to add a rosewood guitar into my arsenal. There's plenty of midrange for my liking, the trebles are clear but not overbearing. And the bass is tight. This guitar is louder than my SS dread.

I also really enjoy the mod v neck and the slimmer nut width. Very comfortable profile.

Thanks to Connor smith for his constant great customer service!
Music background: Rock, soul, folk
