There is a deep scratch and finish chipping on the bass edge of the fretboard at the 15th fret. There are scratches on the body's back, sides, and pickguard as well. This instrument includes its hardshell case, case key, end pin, manual, and hang tag. There are also fine scratches that do not appear in our Guitar Gallery images.

Hits all the marks

I decided to give the shorter scale Martin a try to help my aging hands on difficult stretches.The 1/2 inch helps more I expected. Beyond that it is a beautiful guitar that appears to my eye, to be Martin Perfect. My other Martin is a D-18 and this guitar is noticeably lighter, perfectly balanced and is an absolute joy to finger pick. While my D-18 is a cannon, the 000-28MD has a very warm rich tone and fills a completely different lane for my playing. I am always nervous about purchase of a premium guitar without trying it but this one exceeds my expectations and hits all the marks. I really appreciate the customer service at Sweetwater and have learned to 100% trust their judgment. I could not be more pleased with this purchase.

A beautiful thing.

The best guitar I ever owned and it's my 7th Martin. I'm a vintage creature myself and all my previous Martins were from the early 60's and all Brazilian Rosewood and if I kept them I could buy a house with then now. But none of them sounded like the 000-28MD right out of the box. I owned an EC but sold it, and this is better to my ear. The neck is great and the EC was a baseball bat to me and I'm not Babe Ruth or Clapton so I need the taper. I traded in my standard 000-28 when I heard this. There is no comparison. It's like all the notes have been dusted and polished and just ring out. Like there was a towel stuffed in the body of the Standard and I don't have 50 years to "break it in and open it up." I just got it, and I'll play it a few weeks before I decide if I take the action down a hair. The 12 gauge it shipped with sound great, and I'm usually into John Pearce but this seems born to the Martin PB's. This guitar sounds and looks as advertised. Normally I'm 100% about tone, but the elegance of this did influence me. It just screams class and the sound backs it up. I guess it's pricey but with rampaging hyperinflation developing it's actually cheap since dollars are becoming worthless. Martins always do nothing but go up in price, and as they get older, in value as well. And this is investment grade. the only semi-negative I have is relative. In some ways I prefer the unadulterated, less complex silvery metallic uncompromised brightness you get with Mahogany, making the 000-18 standard noticeably brighter even than the 000-28 MD. It makes me wonder what the 000-18MD would be like but I was so impressed with the 28 that I stopped looking right there. The Rosewood is naturally warmer than mahogany so you get the best of both worlds. Bright and extremely defined, but with a deeper layered mid and bass sweetness balancing it. After getting this I'm not sure why people fall in love with the standard. I guess they haven't played this. It surely justifies it's price point.

Amazing Guitar

This thing is simply amazing. Incredibly lightweight but delivers rich, full tone through all ends of the frequency spectrum. I've owned other Martin guitars that are quality instruments by anyone's standard, but this blows the others away. This is the most playable, best sounding guitar I've ever owned. Do yourself a favor and get one already.

The BEST just keeps getting better

I received my 000-28md a little over a year now and this guitar just keeps amazing me. The attention to detail is 2nd to none! I've had small body guitars from Collins, Gibson, Taylor but this Martin is on another level. There is everything to love from the beautiful herringbone trim to the maple wood binding and the gold frets to the open back tuners. The neck is comfortable sleek and fast, and the guitar is light mainly due to the titanium truss rod. The Sound, the voice of the guitar is 2nd to none with the VTS top and the aged(torrefied) Adirondack bracing you can feel the power as it gives and keeps giving, even with a pick and hard strumming, the guitar is exceptional as you feel the guitar vibrate against your body you hear the crisp chime and the warmth of the strings as the low end resonates from deep within the guitars body, with a beautiful midrange. I always thought, If its Not Broken don't fix it, The Clapton 000-28s and the standard were so good I was skeptical, BUT Martin did what only Martin can do, They Made the BEST BETTER
