Designed by a Martin Aficionado for Martin Aficionados

Whether she's churning out intelligent folk-tinged pop albums as a solo artist or working with Hillsong Worship, Brooke Ligertwood is a guitarist's guitarist — a true acoustic aficionado. Brooke's signature Martin 000-28 melds the best elements of the company's Paul Simon PS2 and their Eric Clapton 000-28EC — two of her favorite acoustic guitars — and also includes a number of her stage-tested performance tweaks. The 000-28 Brooke Ligertwood leverages spruce-topped, East Indian rosewood 000-14-fret body, which elicits a balanced, projective tone with loads of headroom. A modified "V"-shaped neck and ultra-smooth ebony fingerboard ensure effortless playability. This head-turning acoustic instrument also boasts an abalone rosette, Style 28 purfling, European flamed maple binding, multi-stripe inlays, abalone fingerboard inlays, and a script old-style headplate logo. Brooke has been a Martin devotee ever since she was gifted a 000XM at the naissance of her career, and the Martin 000-28 Brooke Ligertwood is the culmination of a lifetime of experience. "I designed the guitar that I want to play for the rest of my life," says Brooke. Make no mistake: you'll want to play it forever, too.

Rosewood and spruce deliver timeless acoustic tone

The acoustic tone of solid spruce and genuine rosewood is now the stuff of legend — balanced, warm, and robust. The Martin 000-28 Brooke Ligertwood spares no expense on its tonewoods. You'll love the crisp sound of the 000-28 Brooke Ligertwood's solid East Indian rosewood back and sides and fall in love with its gorgeous look. The Brooke Ligertwood signature acoustic is topped with solid spruce, eliciting a balanced, full-range sound that can withstand heavy strumming without sacrificing tone. This acoustic guitar also includes a European flamed maple end piece and heel cap that add volume without affecting the guitar's warmth.

Top wood aged to perfection with Martin's VTS

Tone connoisseurs like Brooke Ligertwood are always in search of the perfect guitar tone, and in the acoustic world one of the most-loved tones is that of a vintage Martin. We're talking about guitars that have aged well over 50 years. C. F. Martin & Company has perfected a unique way of torrefying the top woods and braces of their guitars to achieve the sound of an aged and broken-in Martin. The Vintage Tone System (VTS) lets Martin age the woods to a specific age/time period. The Martin 000-28 Brooke Ligertwood's hand-applied gloss finish also replicates the coloring of a vintage instrument. The Brooke Ligertwood signature acoustic not only looks like a vintage guitar, it also has that sought-after sound.

Easy-playing modified "V" neck

If you appreciate the feel of Martin's 000-28 Eric Clapton acoustic, you'll feel right at home on the 000-28 Brooke Ligertwood, thanks to its distinctive modified "V"-shaped neck and its smooth-playing ebony fingerboard. The guitarists here at Sweetwater are quick to note how the slight "V" shape of these necks gives you a vintage feel, but without the sharp "V" that can impede hand positions that place your thumb in the middle of the neck.

Martin 000-28 Brooke Ligertwood Signature Acoustic Guitar Features:

Why Buy Your Guitar from Sweetwater?

See how Sweetwater goes to great lengths to give you the very best online guitar buying experience. From our online Guitar Gallery that allows you to see and select the exact instrument you want to our 55-point Inspection process and our in-house guitar techs, we take the guesswork out of buying your next guitar online.

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Easy peasy

Just arrived, after arduous labor to unpack, these babies are well protected for shipping.
Played some Clapton on this guitar, sounds amazing, sounds better than I play.
Beautiful piece of art as well as sound.
Thanks Ben Cameron for your help.

Fantastic guitar from an excellent product specialist

As a long time Sweetwater customer, I always buy here.
This guitar is fantastic, I've come to realize that the 1 11/16 nut width is my perfect size. As I have a Clapton as well, this "Mod V" is much more manageable than the EC for me.

This guitar is absolutely perfect as a Swiss Army Knife Guitar, doing everything exceptionally well. As usual, Martin "fit & finish" is perfect as is the wood selection.

My Sales Rep, CJ Onyx, is delightful to work with EVERY TIME! As a Sales Director, I've trained Salespeople for over 30 yrs and she provides the absolute best service I've ever experienced!

Thank you again CJ!!!

don’t let the nut width fool you

Picked this guitar up and had to walk away with it. I was between this and the Clapton and the Clapton one.

I was never an artist model person but I've been more open to buying them regardless of who's name is on it. They're really great guitars.

This is a great alternative for someone who wants the Clapton without the boat that it has for a neck. I'm not crazy about the headstock wreath but I love the other special appointments. I loved how this sounded and played. I bought this guitar believing the nut was 1.75". I only later found out in an interview that I was 1 11.16". People comment on the Clapton saying that even though it's 1.75" at the nut it feels huge from the v neck and the bigger neck taper. This has a 1 11/16" and feels similar to the Clapton in that it feels a little bigger than it is. Sometimes neck profile is more important than the nut width.

It's a really really pleasant sounding guitar. Really balanced for picking and strumming. Playing this guitar unlocks so many tones that I love on records but that a dred won't give me.

Excellent Tone

I first off would like to give props to the people at Sweetwater for having an excellent customer service team. This guitar sounds really well balanced and has a very nice aged top.I have to say that it seems like the camera cannot quite capture the colors of the top as it is a bit darker it could be the lighting but I love the color of it. The tonal character of this particular guitar is very well balanced, not too bright not to loud just right.I really enjoy the short scale neck as well. The guitar does have a very nice thick neck. To me this is great as it gives me something to grab onto but some people may not like this. The quality of this instrument at this price point is amazing. I love the abalone rosette and inlays on the neck it just adds a bit of flair and the maple binding is jaw dropping. As for the tone if your looking for a guitar with a very balanced tone this is it.
