A Departure from the Taylor Sound
The Taylor Sound is famous for its modern, articulate, balanced sound. Master luthier Andy Powers recognized that while the Taylor tonal palette is distinct, it's not for everybody. Inspired by the acoustic sounds from the Laurel Canyon scene of the '60s and '70s that Andy heard while growing up in Southern California, the Grand Pacific boasts a sound that's warmer, rounder, and more substantial on the bottom.
Powered by V-Class Bracing
The round-shoulder dreadnought — with its big, booming voice — has long been a standard onstage and in studios. The Grand Pacific modernizes this traditional dreadnought sound, infusing it with Taylor's proprietary V-Class bracing. Introduced in 2018, V-Class bracing results in more volume, intonation, and sustain. And paired with the Grand Pacific body, it works to tame the sonic pitfalls commonly associated with dreadnoughts, namely the tendency for low-end buildup. The result is a sound that's more versatile and usable than that of traditionally designed dreadnoughts.
Step Up to the Builder's Edition for the Ultimate in Playing Comfort
The Builder's Edition collection offers a compound-carve neck profile that subtly transitions from a slight "V" shape at the nut to a rounded "C" as you move up the neck. Coupled with a rounded, ridge-less heel and rolled fingerboard edges, the Grand Pacific's neck is all about effortless playability. The bridge and body also boast aesthetic enhancements that improve the playing experience over traditional dreadnoughts. The "curve wing" bridge shape has smooth contours, and the body's edges are rounded for the ultimate in playing comfort. With its big, authoritative voice and ergonomic refinements, the Grand Pacific is truly a dreadnought for the modern player.
