What is Ambisonics?
Ambisonics is a multichannel audio format that renders sound binaurally in playback, letting you virtually rotate perspective in all directions, vertically as well as horizontally. Ambisonics is supported by all major post-production tools on the market, making it the appropriate technology for virtual reality and other applications that involve 3-dimensional sound and interactive audio. An ambisonic microphone captures and outputs four channels of Ambisonics A-format. But before you can use A-format audio, it must be converted to another 4-channel format, Ambisonics B-format, for which you need encoding software.
