All I ever dreamed us was an easy way to switch on and off my other synthesizers in the middle of a live performance. I've tried mixers with mute buttons... I've tried midi controllers, foot pads, expression pedals hooked to midi volume channels... yeah, none of that matters anymore because this little darling does exactly what I've needed! This little fella sits on top of my grandstage and then in a pinch I can enable layers or take layers away from my synth rack (minifreak + basstation). Finally.
No more fumbling with cords or reaching for other knobs and devices in the middle of a show. Just this easy to hit giant light up buttons.

I bought this to use as a through box where I could turn off MIDI ports to instruments, when needed, without having to disconnect the cables. Quality built metal box with feet bumpers to prevent it from sliding around. Switches are about the right level of luminescence, not too bright or dim and very well sized. MIDI port connections are nice and 'tight', no worrying about a cable working its way lose.

This has one in and four selectable outs. Any number of switches can be on at one time and remembers the last midi note before switching a channel off. Simply brilliant. I use it to play up to 3 of my other synths at the same time with t he key push of one synth. Talk about a big lead sound or whatever I'm doing. Incredibly powerful. Thanks Sweetwater for offering this amazing product.

I was glad this MIDI switching box was still still available. It is great for live gigs and to have around in the studio to manage MIDI signals.

I recently used it in a solo live electronic gig and it worked flawlessly. My set went smoothly and was very well-received by the audience. I credit this little MIDI switcher with an "assist".

This type of MIDI box is hard to find and fortunately I just happened to run across the ST-4 in a search, and am glad I did. BTW, you won't find the Crumar logo on it anywhere, as it is marketed by GM.Lab DIY projects. Ok, the ST-4 is very handy switchable thru box for live or studio use where multiple MIDI devices are used and quick effortless switching between them is needed. The box has some heft to it as it is built rock solid with an all metal chassis and non-skid rubber feet. The four large lighted toggle buttons are a plus and are very easy to see in a darkened studio or club. They are mechanical and have a good feel to them. The ST-4 does not use batteries, but instead requires 5v USB Power (a micro USB cable - not USB C - is included) but not the actual wall adapter for AC use. You can't go wrong with this one.
