Two Stages Worth of String Sampling
There’s no better way to achieve the perfectly precise string ensemble blend for your project than with Synchron Duality Strings from Vienna Symphonic Library. This VI gains producers, professional scorers, and home-studio composers access to not only expertly sampled orchestral strings, but an enormous variety of deliverable variations. Courtesy of two separately sampled ensembles at Synchron Stage Vienna — one large and broad (A) and the other smaller and more intimately miked (B) — you have the freedom to shape the authority of your string section’s impact to speak the exact language of your soundtrack or composition. Use each ensemble together or separately for your specific applications, and work with an incredible selection of dark and light microphone setups to achieve your ideal effect. Sweetwater studiophiles have scarcely seen an orchestral VI sampled in as much detail as Synchron Duality Strings!

Incredible dual-stage sampling
Synchron Duality Strings presents you with incredibly versatile VI orchestral palates, and the proof is in the name! Now, with two separate ensembles at your disposal, there are twice as many opportunities for your musical creativity to reach new heights. Vienna Symphonic Library simultaneously recorded two individual string ensembles of Vienna’s most esteemed string players for Synchron Duality Strings: a large ensemble on Stage A in the main hall and a small ensemble on Stage B. The dichotomous results laid the foundation for a new dimensionality in VI orchestration.
Stage A’s result presented a larger, more grandiose symphonic effect, while the smaller and dryer Stage B is accompanied by a more transparent and intimate sound courtesy of dual microphone sets used for recording. Both ensembles, however, were captured in perfectly synchronized volume, timbre, note length, and so forth, allowing for a mesmerizingly characterful stereo response. With Synchron Duality Strings, you can balance the two ensembles to your liking by way of completely organic mixing presets or work singularly with the ensemble that best suits the needs of your project.
Endless performance customization
There are so many explorable performance intricacies within Synchron Duality Strings that we couldn’t possibly list them all if we tried! However, you’ll be delighted to know you’ve got full say over the lengths and intensities of notes with numerous legato variations, including slurred and portamento. Level your ensemble’s attacks and releases, in addition to tremolos, trills, pizzicato, harmonics, and countless other articulation elements — they’re even switchable based on key velocity! From simple ambience to clear and focused to a powerhouse of mountain-moving orchestral presence, there’s a path for exploration for composers of all interests.
Miked to your liking
The detail of Synchron Duality Strings goes well beyond ensemble variations — you’ve got full capability on exactly how your blended ensemble is miked up! The dark microphone setting comes captured by Royer SF24 and Sennheiser MKH 8040 mics, while the brighter setting is achieved through Neumann M149 and Ehrlund HER-M mics. The Full Library even affords you the warm and low-mid layers of Left/Right ribbon microphone capturing to help create incredibly lush and precise stringscapes. A convenient helping of surround microphone settings widens the orchestra, creating a denser effect. Finally, a Room Mix Presets selection enables easy and exceptional mixdowns into immersive audio formats such as stereo, 5.1 surround sound, and Dolby Atmos. Whatever impact you need your composition to exhibit, Synchron Duality Strings can make it happen!
