UVI Revives a 1980s Analog Polysynth
The UVI UVX80 draws inspiration from a rare Japanese 8-voice polysynth that debuted in 1984. This VI's 6,771 samples, rolled into 252 production-ready presets, faithfully capture the vibe of the original hardware and bring it to your modern workstation. Under the hood, the UVX80's dual-layer architecture gives tone tweakers tremendous freedom to shape sounds, featuring dual oscillators with independent filtering, envelopes, and assignments. And with an onboard FX suite that includes drive, delay, reverb, and more, the UVI UVX80 lets you build and recall complete patches entirely within the plug-in.

The UVX80 is inspired by a cherished piece of gear that hails from Japan circa 1984. This quirky 2-OSC polysynth is remembered for its clean digital layout, aggressive filtering, and industrial-sounding nastiness — a departure from other synth giants of the time. The UVX80 builds on the hardware's unique sonic signature and distinctive aesthetic, preferred by artists like Mark Bell (Bjork), and fleshes it out into a modern production instrument, complete with onboard FX and plenty of ways to shape sound.

The UVI UVX80's dual-layer architecture lets you design sounds using two custom oscillators. You get 28 sounds on oscillator one and 111 sounds on oscillator two, each with its own multimode filter, ADSR envelopes, pitch, portamento, stereo section, arpeggiator and modwheel assignments. You also get a versatile LFO and 16-step modulator, along with a full arsenal of onboard effects: drive, chorus, phaser, delay, reverb.
