Stunning vintage samples
When it comes to samples, Soul Drums is packed to the brim. There are 150,000 drum samples that await your every assignment, featuring a painstakingly tracked-down array of vintage drum sounds that helped shape the golden era of soul. Additionally, 1,000 sequences are standing by to bring your favorite vintage sounds to life. From patented lo-fi Motown backbeats to the warm vintage grooves of funk and beyond, Soul Drums is loaded with the best of 'em. Each sample was handpicked using drums and microphones that put in the hard work at the original Studio C Hit Factory, tributing the vibes of recordings from soul legends like James Brown. Now is your chance to implement that characterful sound into your very own songs — it's all just a few clicks away!
Loaded with in-depth controls
We guarantee you haven’t seen a vintage drum plug-in with a control layout as detailed as the one you'll find in Soul Drums — there’s just so much to discover! Once you have your kit and sequence picked out, the Mix page should be both your first (and last) stop on your journey to crafting the perfect kit sound. Devoted to the master balance of your drum set, this is where you’ll bring up the individual master levels for each piece of the percussive puzzle. Strap in, it only gets more specific from here!
Further fine-tune your kit
The next three pages are your essential components: Bass drum, Snare drum, and Hi-hats. Each of these pages comes loaded with an impressive amount of controls to make sure you can fine tune every element you fancy. It starts with a 3-band Equalizer, where you’ll also see Velocity, Compression, Pitch, and Pan control knobs. Next up, you’ll specify the exact style of acoustic instrument your heart desires — felt pad bass drumheads, rattly snares, vintage chick-ing hi-hats, and beyond. It’s also here that you’ll adjust features like Attack and Decay, Drive channels, and High/Low Pass Filters. Finally, a Digital sample selector is exclusive to these first three pages, allowing you to modernize your kick, snare, and hi-hat sound, should you see it fit.
Moving down the line, you’ll run into the rest of your kit components, including Toms, Cymbals, and Percussion. Though you don’t have the option for Digital samples here, Soul Drum’s versatile nature remains ever present. Floor, Middle, and High Toms are afforded the same Acoustic setting controls from earlier. The same can be said for the Cymbals, including dual Crashes and a Ride, as well as the Percussion page, boasting adjustment knobs for Claps, Tambourines, and Sticks.
Adjustable mics and Bleed Matrix
Now that you’ve built your kit, it’s time to turn it up a notch with the Ambience page. Four global microphone channels can be affected at this stage, including Overheads, Kit mics, Mono, and Room microphones. You’ll find available Drive, 3-band EQ, Filtering, and Compression controls for each channel, with devoted Effects Sends at the bottom of the page gaining you access to two pairs of Delays and Reverbs. And then, did we mention custom mics? You’re closer than ever to that analog studio sound of your dreams!
To take things even a step further, the incredible Mic Bleed Matrix sits at the bottom of every kit component page. Yes — you read that right! Soul Drums allows you to balance in and out the amount of instrument bleed into different mics on your kit, unlocking doors to the chunky and snare-heavy Motown grooves you’ve always wanted for your own musical projects.
Versatile FX panel
The final page of custom controls supplies the nitty gritty specifics of each included special effect within Soul Drums. At this stage, it’s up to you what kind of effect you want to spring for. Tape Delay? Dual Delay? What about IR and Spark Reverb with assigned samples? Soul Drums puts you in charge of every session, and anything you say goes!
