Amazing Nagoya Harp
With Nagoya Harp, UVI wanted to create a virtual instrument that would satisfy both the modern producer and the traditionalist — an instrument able to deliver the authentic sound of this unique instrument while also letting you explore new sonic territory with expanded playing techniques, performance scripts, multiple mic mixing, and effects to inspire musicians who work in all genres. Judging from the enthusiasm here at Sweetwater, we'd say they succeeded quite nicely. Something akin to a traditional koto or autoharp with typewriter-like mechanics, the Nagoya Harp gave Japan affordable access to the Western 12-tone chromatic scale. Boasting over 20,000 samples, Nagoya Harp is a library that transcends the boundaries of musical style. Whether you need beautiful authentic timbres for a movie score or avant-garde seasoning for your next album, UVI Nagoya Harp delivers.
This product requires that you have an iLok account for authorization, although it does not require a physical iLok key. It also requires UVI Workstation or Falcon. Please call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer if you have questions.

A beautifully designed virtual instrument
An exhaustive, highly detailed sample library, Nagoya Harp accommodates multiple playing styles through innovative performance scripts that precisely reproduce the harmonic interaction generated by hand movements such as as strumming. The samples for Nagoya Harp were recorded using bows, plectrums, sticks, palm muting, hammer-ons and pull-offs, and multiple una corda configurations and tunings; giving you everything from organic, expressive melodic progressions and cadenced arpeggios to raw modulating harmonic drones. To meticulously capture each sample, UVI used a 3-mic setup that included a Royer SF-24, Neumann U67, and Bruel & Kjaer 4006; Nagoya Harp gives you discrete level control over each for optimal flexibility.
Two powerful instruments
Nagoya Harp houses two powerful instruments: Strum and Keys. Designed to facilitate traditional playing style within the context of a virtual instrument, Strum provides a streamlined control set focused on standard usage, which includes tuning of drone and open strings, a velocity sequencer, and key noise amount, as well as discrete control over 3 microphones. Keys takes you beyond traditional sounds and playing styles, expanding on Strum with enhanced playing techniques such as Una Corda High-String, Una Corda Low-String, Palm Muted, Sticks, and Bowed. Keys also includes an additional page of controls with a 4-stage amplitude envelope, along with a multimode filter, stereo unison, a mono/poly switch with pitch glide, and quick mappings for your controller's modwheel. Capable of diverse and experimental sounds covering a broad gamut from violin-like to ambient pads, guitar tones to percussive, Keys takes this traditional instrument into new sonic territory.
Creative effects engine
From 3-band EQ and studio-grade convolution and algorithmic reverb to drive, chorus, phaser, and delay; Nagoya Harp's creative effects engine delivers impressive sound-sculpting prowess. Starting with a expressive and dynamic instrument, these effects open the door to everything from organic acoustic sound in natural environments to aggressive, guitar-like tones and celestial ambient drones. You can quickly browse through the onboard presets for inspiration or dive right in and design your own sounds using Nagoya Harp's powerful, intuitive user interface.
