The facility has hosted some of the world’s most revered artists, from Ray Charles and Frank Sinatra to Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, and countless additional greats. Housed within the Hollywood-based Capitol Records Tower, the studio’s hallmark appointments include one of the most sought-after echo chambers ever built, situated right beneath the building. After years of R&D and collaboration with Capitol Records, Universal Audio debuts its Capitol Chambers plug-in, an end-to-end re-creation of the vaunted echo chamber, constructed with exacting precision. Using a slew of virtual mics and speakers, you can use UA’s proprietary Dynamic Room Modeling to harness the infinite ambience potential of the room’s design with real-time customization of the space and proximity of microphones, thoroughly impressing Sweetwater’s recording engineers. Extensive sound-shaping options and dedicated capture of the vintage Altec 21D and Shure SM80 omnidirectional microphones are complemented by a series of artist presets from the likes of Grammy-winning engineers behind Ray Charles, Steely Dan, Madonna, Radiohead, and more.

Used in their award-winning Ocean Way Studios plug-in, UA’s proprietary Dynamic Room Modeling (DRM) technology was deployed to ensure every permutation of signal chain, microphone, speaker, and proximity possibilities would be captured with exacting precision. Conventional convolution reverbs only provide a snapshot of the space, but UA’s DRM allows you to interact with the space in real time, thanks to a combination of cutting-edge measurement techniques and modeling capabilities.

What’s more, a sweepable, lowpass filter lets you quickly eliminate muddy low ends within your mix, from 80Hz to 750Hz ranges, with a 3-band EQ to endlessly refine your spatial sonics to perfection.
