Best guitar
I have several Telecasters. Including a 1983 USA, A Mexican Esquier, a 60th anniversary special, This is the best out of the box. Ben Stokes and the team had the set up done perfectly. All did was put Polyweb 9/42's on it. I can't believe how good the guitar is! Get one for sure.
Squire Telecaster
Great guitar! Bought it, buffed the frets with 4/0 steel wool (taped between frets) replaced strings with some Ernie Balls, intonated it and now have a Tele I would put up against any Fender! Beautiful finish (Sunburst) and fine construction. It plays like a dream. I have numerous guitars, including Fenders, but this might be my new favorite. I don't know if mine is just an exceptional Squier Tele but it it is great guitar!

I am 60 yrs old and only playing for 5 yrs . However I do play everyday since I am retired and I have been blessed to own some fine guitars. Thanks to Sweetwater . Because I am so new I felt that I have to only be seen with upper class head stocks. Well Covid and other economic changes have changed all that. This Squire has been a pleasant surprise !! It is beautiful and it sounds better than my other American guitars costing 4 times more. Even if I do change the pickups I'll be way ahead of the game. Not perfect, but real close.
All the fret work, set up & intonation was completed. The tone is so close to a genuine Fender Tele that I have a hard time hearing the difference. My only gig was the tuners. Two of them would not hold tension. I replaced them with some better tuners & Fender nickel wrapped medium gage strings. I play this guitar more than the others that I own. I run it thru a Champion 40 amp & am very pleased with the sound. I feel that some of the high end Squires will soon catch up with or exceed real Fender guitars. Now for my demographics, I'm in my 70's & jam with some the the guys from my high school garage band. We have a great time & have nothing to prove to anyone except that being old should never stop anyone from having fun with music.
Well...mostly OK. I got it on time and not busted.
The guitar itself is pretty nice. It was packaged well. I like the color, finish, neck, pickups etc. It is actually beautiful. However, it got to me with flopping loose strings, intonation way out (after tuning) and had obviously not been through any setup that Sweetwater always advertises. The is the second time out of 2 guitars I purchased from Sweetwater that the pre-shipping setup failed me. This, of course, at worst becomes false advertising or at best not a benefit.
I need to do a proper setup but work a ton of hours both at my day job and home so I haven't gotten around to it. It plays OK but will need to do a real setup for action and intonation. Honestly I don't expect Sweetwater to do a full on setup anyway, but flopping strings is straight from the factory. But EVERY time I play it for that 15 minutes I get it reminds me that Sweetwater didn't do what they said.
I think this may have attributed to the problem...They have opened up a new warehouse in Arizona. I ordered the guitar and case with 2 day FEDEX shipping. That means they sent it from Arizona to Memphis to Tulsa OK. It went across the US and back to get to me. Their Indiana warehouse would have been closer to Memphis. At least the Indiana warehouse TRIES to do a setup...although like I said another guitar I bought a while back (an EVH) had a very noticeable flaw in setup when I got it.
There is probably some fine print somewhere, that says my guitar either due to price range or fast shipping wouldn't get a setup. OK I don't think that is in the ads. Maybe I am wrong.
I try to like Sweetwater, but they really make it difficult. Frankly, I am more disappointed than angry. From my house, I can't tell any difference between them and any other company. That frustrates me. OK I did get a bag of candy in the box and some stickers. YMMV
