Great sound, great feel & great look!

By Sweetwater Customer

This is my first Tele, and I got to say that I'm super happy with it.
Overall it feels very smooth and the edges are proof of it, the tones I've been able to pull off sound amazing and the color catched my eye from the very first time I saw it.
Awesome pick for my collection!

Great guitar

By Chris from Minnesota
Music Background: hobbiest / in a dad band

I love this guitar. Plays awesome and love how it sounds. I like the push button option for a little more tone diversity. It is a nice color, but definitely not as green as I expected. The type of light hitting it can make it look anywhere from silver to light blue to light green. I still like the guitar, but had there been a darker color option that I liked, I would have gone with that. As usual, Sweetwater service was excellent. Thanks to Evan Hall for quick shipping, updates, and follow up.

Love this tele

By Doug H. from Bakersfield, CA

So glad I did not settle for the players series. The quality, finish was great and was set up perfectly. And the mystic surf green is just so good. This is my new go-to axe, highly recommended.

Not perfect

By Dj R. from Ponca city

Sounds great and you can tell it's quality. Only problem is it came with several high frets. It's a big ridiculous to have to level your own frets on a guitar of this caliber. It's a great guitar but definitely consider that you may have to add the cost of a setup to the initial purchase. Don't love having to shell out the cost of new tools after purchasing a guitar like this

Fender Professional ll Telecaster

By Sweetwater Customer from CA

I have owned at least a dozen guitars in the last 20 years and this one is hands down my favorite! The neck on this guitar steals the show for sure; it's perfect. The rolled edges, the smooth, silky finish and the deep C carve make it so comfortable to play. The darker neck stain and the tall, narrow frets are also nice appointments. The contoured heel and the slightly rounded edges on the body are immediately noticeable when you pick up the professional ll tele. These are both welcome changes which make holding this guitar a huge step up from a traditional telecaster. Now, as for sound, the V Mod ll pickups (vintage/modern) are versatile and sound great; you won't even think about swapping them out for something else. I got the mystic surf green finish with a mint green pickguard which like everything else on this guitar combine vintage elements with a modern flare. In short, Fender started in the early 50's with an amazing guitar but at this point consider it perfected! I highly recommend this guitar. In my opinion it's the best of all things guitar and the price is fair, especially considering that it comes with a very nice case.

Good but with quirks

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: Former full time musician

The Sweetwater pictures makes this guitar look like a bluish silver yet the fender website and other images show a subtile metallic green. Even YouTube videos seem to be all over the map with what this guitar looks like. So I open the case and see a silver guitar and feel a bit disappointed. It's not really green at all and I'm just kinda hating the pickups when played next to a guitar with Nocasters. They sound very tamed and refined, but that's not rock and roll. Well if it's not green and I have to swap out the pickups and likely the push push tone pot to get this to sound like a classic tele then I felt it was best to just return it. Then my wife stops me when sending the email to my sales rep, she wants to see this thing. So we open the case and see the baby blue silver looking thing, which she loves. But we notice the dang color changes depending on how the light hits it. We take it from room to room to see how the hue shifts. It's the weirdest thing, I have no idea what color it is. Some times it's the green color I thought I was paying for though, but not very often. What kind of witchcraft is this? Since the body is nice and light and my wife is in love with the color I might have to keep it but I will have to ditch the pickups. I kinda wish I got performer series because I'm just not seeing where I'm getting any more for my money. I've got soulless pickups and a paint color that can't make up its mind about what it is. Fender, we should be able to buy a telecaster with compensated bass saddles, 22 frets, classic fender pickups, and a nice poly finish for around 1500 bucks. Fender, you tried too hard with this one. Since I AB'd this guitar with a tele set up with custom shop pickups I know this is sub par tone. The only question is whether it's worth the expense to upgrade this one or just return it.

As for the way it plays, the neck is fat so it's closer to the 50s feel but with tall frets it seems kinda odd. The American performer feels like an old friend to me because that profile has been around for a while but this professional series profile is a bit alien. Will I eventually like it, yes, but it's not like grabbing a 52 or an old American standard.

#1 guitar in my arsenal

By Sweetwater Customer

These are the best guitars in fenders current MIA lineup, period. It is a no-nonsense telecaster. The satin neck with rolled edges is a breeze to play, I love the brass 3-saddle bridge, the 4 way switching is actually very useful for me, and the finish is quite good. Every AmPro II that I pickup has a similar feel and you know you're getting high quality.

Keep in mind, the pickups leave a bit to be desired. They sound good! But not great. Hence 4 stars. (I replaced mine with Fralins.) But this has unfortunately always been the case with stock Fender products. It is what it is.

Fantastic

By Michael D. from Mechanicsburg PA USA

I had 39 guitars all high brands. All high quality. Never had a tele because the didn't fit my style. I visited Nashville and was impressed . FYI ever guitarist must see the new Gibson Guarage. I have some high end strats and USA fender keeps getting better and better. this guitar is not good for shred but it came set up perfectly and is top quality. Plays great. I was wrong about teles. The are so distinctive in style, pickups and tons it need part of the collection and in 1 day I was inspired to write in. The intonation and playability is spot on the entire neck.. It's light and comfortable. I got the rosewood neck. My preference. I have maple neck strats. I think me rosewood is just a personal preference. The neck is a meaty cy. There is a push pot that doessomeTing with the wiring. To me does not make a big impact except for some volume. as tele 's go it's a higher end than some of stuff I tried years ago. I love it. 5 stars

The neck feels suburb on this guitar. I really like the Mystic Surf Green color too. Fender did a nice job of voicing the pickups. I recommend you get this guitar ASAP.

Great All Around Guitar

By Scott L. from Portland, OR
Music Background: Professional Bedroom Rocker

For a frame of reference, I have played mostly Stratocasters and Ibanez RG guitars.

The neck shape, finish, and frets of this guitar combine into something that just feels good to play. It is smooth, easy to travel up and down, and transition under and over. Upper fret access is a little constrained, even with neck joint being rounded off a bit.

I like the narrow-tall frets. They are more substantial than older vintage frets and therefore easier to string bend on but not so big and unforgiving like jumbo frets where you can't feel the fret board. The stock setup was a bit buzzy for me, and I raised some of the saddles. Adjustments are very easy and everything is well machined.

The "noiseless" pickups are not at all noiseless, but they are quieter than the factory single coils I have in my 80's Strat. By comparison, the Fishman Fluence pickups in my Ibanez are absolutely silent. The Telecaster tone knob can be pushed to changed the wiring of the two pickups in position two. I thought it would be gimmicky, but there is a real difference between the series and parallel option and I really use this feature.

This guitar is great for a wide variety of sounds (especially classic rock and county but excluding metal). Perhaps most importantly, I just enjoy playing it.
