Reviews

The best low volume heads in my opinion.
I really love them.
Excellent heads
I recently purchased the Evans dB One heads. I wanted a drum setup that didn't make everyone in the band and the crowd wince and cover their ears while I was playing fully. I have tried playing quietly, but it never works out. I bought this Evans line for the look and because I have had Evans since the early 1980's. Why give these a try?

I planned all along to mic up the kit. I also purchased the Wuhan ORA cymbals. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Regarding Evans db One, they are amazingly quiet. They do have their sounds in the lower zone of tones. To me, they actually sound like processed drums from a studio. All the sounds you try to avoid in the studio and live, like too much overtone, ringing and higher sounds when turned up tightly are missing and you get a really good tone with your bottom heads tune well. Easy peasy sound check with a few hits of each drum. All the drums sounded great and mic'ed up so stinkin' easy and quickly. Good to go. I will say that your playing on the snare head will probably be a little slower because it lacks the response of a tight mylar head but it's not noticeable on the toms and kick drums.

Everyone's reaction to the Evans db One heads and cymbals in the band was very pleased and they didn't notice the difference in sound, just volume not being there. Everyone, including the crowd and the staff of the venue, liked not being overpowered by the volume and didn't realize why. The snare and cymbals were a big hit because they didn't knock their faces off.

I just started using them. I think they will hold up for the most part.

Over A+ and recommend them for what they are. If you are a drummer that mics your drums during live playing, I highly recommend these to you. Also, just sitting and playing these would be great. Evans db One's are great, but don't expect the traditional sounds of Zildjian K & A's, Paiste 2002 & Masters or Sabian or other cymbals. Get in your minds the difference and you'll be happy you made your purchase.

Great Silent Drum Head
If you're looking for a great silent head to use to practice or live in a place where you can't be too loud with your playing, this is a great head for that! I would say that this silent drum head is much better than the Remo Silent Stroke in sound and durability has I've had both head on my kit. The only downside to the head is that it costs a lot more than the Remo Silent Stroke heads, although I think it's definitely worth the extra money as they are very durable and sound great!

Very cool concept Evans!
This works great on my snare with the snare belt turned on and also is quite sweet on the 14 inch floor tom for quiet practice, for learning my cover songs for the bands I play with. Highly recommended.

Evans db One Low Volume Drumhead
They work great at reducing the volume of your drum but still feel like your hitting a real head. They are fully tunable head. THe only drawback I see is that you have to change heads. They are great at reducing the volume of yor kit so you can play at home in a bedroom and not drive your wife or neighbors crazy.
Music background: been play Schooling drums for about 40 years played in High school and know for fun
