Trust Evans for Heads That Rock!

The Evans Hydraulic Glass tom drumhead features two plies sandwiching a thin layer of oil, giving the head an especially fat, deep, and short sound - made famous by early-70s rock. The oil decreases sustain, while enhancing attack and low end. Plus, Evans Hydraulic Glass drumheads are famously easy to tune, so they're a great choice for troublesome drums - or beginning players wanting instant access to great sound.

Evans Drumheads has been in the music industry for more than 40 years, and pioneered the original plastic drum head in 1956. These weatherproof heads changed the drum world forever. Evans' state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Farmingdale, NY produces heads that are unparalleled in consistency, durability, and sound quality. Evans is looking to the present and future needs of drummers worldwide.

Amazing!
So long as you have good shells, these heads will be the best heads you've played! I know they have been on my Yamaha 1983 Tour Series

AWESOME
I needed some new heads after taking the stock heads of my new kit, experimenting with others, then finally trashing the old heads altogether for these. I had seen multiple reviews on YouTube of these heads, but I was a bit skeptical at trying them out since I have heard some say they are too dead. Or to quote many others,"They sound like hitting a cardboard box." That is simply not true in my opinion. They have loads of punch, depth, attack, and just the right amount of sustain for that perfect deep and phat sound. A lot of what you get out of these particular heads will depend on what reso head you are using. Most of the review demo videos on the internet I see with these heads are coupled with an EC reso on the bottom. But I wanted to see how they would sound with a thinner head, so I went with the resonant black heads. I feel that if you use a thinner reso head, you'll get a bit more projection depending on how you tune the reso head. I tend to tune my reso heads about the same or a bit above the batter. But I have also tried tuning the reso head lower and there is definitely less resonance if you do that. These are extremely easy to get up to pitch and stay that way with hard playing. In terms of applications, I'd say these would be a great head to use in the studio, live, at home, or really, whenever you want a phat sound, minimal overtone, or just want a great drum sound with not a lot of effort. These heads would work for almost anything if phatness is what you are going for.
