8-loop True Bypass Switching Pedal with MIDI In/Out and Dedicated Tap and Tuner Outputs

The do-it-all EHX Super Switcher puts an end to unwieldy stomp switching. For the pedal purist, this means your 3-pedal stacked overdrive and front-and-back noise gates can now be recalled at a moment's notice, without ever stepping away from the mic. Eight independent, mechanically relayed true bypass loops in the Super Switcher's rear allow you access any pedal combination directly from the front of your board. MIDI in/out even lets you program exactly when your pedals switch on in your sets with pinpoint accuracy. So that shimmer 'verb you only engage when you kick on the digital delay after the compressor for your 2-second bridge interlude? Now it's easy to recall as a single stomp with the Electro-Harmonix Super Switcher from Sweetwater.

Be careful

By Sweetwater Customer from IA

Before purchasing make sure to look into the forum on the manufacturer website, particularly #131814. I am having the known issue of channels dropping presets.

3+ years and still kicking.

Music Background: Jack of all tone

I've got a love-hate relationship with this pedal controller... Some of the biggest complaints would be...

When it was new, it's acted like it needed a break-in, occasionally it would do some crazy stuff on start up... But turn it off, turn it right back on and it reset itself. It seemed like the relays were just sticky, because it's loosened up and it hasn't done it a long time.

The input jacks on the back are really tight spaced so you got to be real choosy when picking cables. I prefer low profile right angle cables on the return bottom side, then found some high-rise right angle plugs to sit above them and save space.

The tap timer only goes up to 255 beats per minute, And no option to go to MS. Also the control one and two won't change the state on my cabs...and probably many other minuscule little details but meh...

On the positive, this thing managed to do about everything that I throw at it. Some I've ran this as a mono rig with a four cable system. I use a decimator g-strings and it's a perfectly silent, wiring nightmare...

I've ran it on a wet dry and a wet dry wet..

You can split the pedal board into a (front of the amp/ loop channel). Or what I've been doing with it is I've split it into a five channel switcher now that's in stereo going to both my wet amps. It performs and sounds just phenomenal for the price that I paid. And if I went back and had the opportunity to do it over again. I wouldn't hesitate.. And if the price is too hefty I'm sure there's an abundance of them on the used market.

It's a switcher unit....

By Paul

First off, $+ for this unit is more than a bit much. Does what it claims. Buffer quality and impedance issues are good. I am not a huge fan of EHX reliability but since this is just a switch matrix it does not require high end processing and high end super chip processors. Issue with jacks being too close on the back panel matrix, you are going to want to get patch cables with a straight on one end. I am fond of using the EBS flat cables and they will fit but it is a bit of a squeeze and artful turning to get them to fit. This unit does not allow the essential order of effects to be changed, but I knew that going in, and that is fine with me as I have no need to really move things around that my array of boosts and drives offer any mix already and an easy placement adjust if needed. Quality of the unit is acceptable and well made, sonic it seems to do what one expects on taking things out of chain and improving overall signal quality. I really just use it to turn loops on and off and I have not really programmed patches yet to pre load multi loops of effects. I have my Compressor Pro going into the Super Switch and all my drives and boosts loaded in the loops, my wah, vibe, octave pedals are in the loops as well. My delays and reverbs are in line after my Synergy preamp rig so I have no need to put them in the switcher. Strymon buffers and impedance are as good as it gets so there is no signal loss issue on them to worry about. This switcher is expensive but aren't all of them with programming ability. This one does not change loop orders that the others will do but also at a higher cost. There are some basic just simple switch bypass units you can find which are a little less than this one. But all in all, if you run a large board it really helps with organizing pedals and not having to try and "toe" into a small space to turn something on/off. Not having the usual cascade of buffers/bypass and impedance issues is also a benefit.

Simple to Use Pedal Switcher

By Sweetwater Customer

The EHX Super Switcher has a very intuitive layout and is very simple to use. I've yet to get into the midi features but one feature I do wish it had was a computer interface to aid programming including midi settings.

Overall a very nice unit so far, I'm very happy with the purchase. I chose this over the Voodoo Labs PX-8; I do prefer the size of the PX-8 but EHX Super Switcher seems to be much more user-friendly with more useful features (integrated ctrl pedals, etc.).

Just what I was looking for

By Ted R. from Macomb, IL

This unit is quick and easy. No complicated programing. Very user friendly, and it does everything you need. It will change the channels on your amp, control you midi gear, and drop pedals in and out as needed. I use mine in four-cable method and its great. It will not allow you to move pedals around within the chain as you switch the program, but not many people need that. This is great if you want to avoid the "tap-dance" while you are playing.
