Behringer Studio M Passive Studio Controller
Behringer Studio M Passive Studio Controller Reviews
Take control of your home studio setup with the Studio M Passive Controller from Behringer. A simplified version of their larger controllers like the Studio XL, the Studio M is perfect for commanding volume levels from any two audio sources or monitors in your studio. Two pairs of input and output connectors, in addition to an 1/8-inch stereo input, provide multiple connection opportunities that will fit right in with your setup. True to their more advanced models, Studio M is outfitted with a jumbo master-volume knob that offers fast and precise adjustments so that you can perfectly balance your sound. Thanks to Studio M’s passive circuitry, your audio is transferred with an ultra-pure signal path free of unwanted gain, buzz, or distortion. Home studio enthusiasts here at Sweetwater are fond of its intuitive layout as well, which provides Mono and Dim controls that flank the master mute with Source and Monitor selectors just beside them. The ergonomic, angled front face panel and the compact nature of Studio M make it a space-efficient addition to any studio desktop or console.

Nice switch
I needed a switch for my small home studio which allowed me to select between two inputs: my DAW and directly from my keyboard. The output goes to my monitors. This works perfectly for my application.
I played with the passive volume knob briefly (it works), but I don't really use that feature. And I do not split between multiple outputs, so I cannot comment on that functionality.
Does exactly what it says it does!
Solid construction, easy to set up and operate. It worked perfectly for my situation.
Perfect audio switcher and volume control
Bought this so I could switch the input source to my studio monitors from my desktop to laptop easily. Works great! The dedicated buttons to switch to mono, reduce the volume ("dim"), and mute are also great utilities. Also, having the big knob for volume control is awesome as my audio interface has small knobs.
Totally satisfied and would buy again, great product, great price.
Just what I needed
I can easily switch between monitors, attenuate, mute, go mono, or switch inputs. Oh yeah, also a volume control. Sounds great, built like a tank. You want one.
Foolproof and Reliable
I have a bit of experience in using monitor controllers and I was a bit iffy about purchasing this due to its low price. I am delighted to say that this has been GREAT. I use it for my home entertainment system paired with some KRK monitors and I have had zero issues. Being a passive controller, you might not get the power that youre looking for but for me, it works great. Super reliable, its got the basic controls (dim, mute, source select, mono, and monitor select), so its great for anyone who might not have a ton of knowledge with this kind of gear. Highly recommend!
Good value
Works fine, makes desktop use a snap. Thx. Paul
Very quiet and simple
I was looking for an easy way to switch between the outputs of my Rodecaster Pro II and my Presonus Quantum ES4 interace. This little, inexpensive box from Behringer did the trick. Very quiet, no extra latency and has a small footprint saving space on my studio desk. If you are looking for an inexpensive source or monitor switcher for your system, this one works well.
Sounded and worked fine, but there was unacceptable noise
I really wanted to like this thing, but when finally set up with all balanced cables, there was a decent amount of noise - not hiss like the noise floor, but more of a buzz / hum like a ground loop. I had to return it. Other than that, it worked and sounded fine when the volume was significantly loud. I ended up with the Heritage Baby Ram and highly recommend it.
Clean and simple
Does exactly what I wanted. Clean, solid, and inexpensive.
Great piece of gear!
I needed something to replace an aging controller for my monitors. I bounced back and forth between this and the Mackie option.
This one looked a little clearer on its markings so I went with it.
Sound is transparent, metal construction and solid parts.
Would recommend to anyone needing something like this.
Great unit at a great price
Lots of features, kind of big, but easy to work into my rig and does what it says it does. Dim and mute are handy to have plus dual input sources and outputs
Behringer Studio M Passive
I order this as a replacement for the Mackie Big Knob who died on me. The Behringer it is bigger than the Mackie but it is lighter. I think in terms of the performance the Behringer has less buzzing noises and it is quieter in my humble opinion. The Behringer and the Mackie has 5 buttons to activate the Source, Mono,Mute button, Dim and Monitor selection and of course the Volume wheel which is way bigger in the behringer. So far I am very satisfied with the performance of the Behringer.
