Bring the Power of Parallel Bass Processing to Your Pedalboard

If you’re like many Sweetwater bassists, then you love blending a direct bass signal with a miked bass amp to achieve a saturated growl while retaining your deep, clean fundamentals. What has traditionally been a tall order onstage and in the studio is now a simple feat with the Simplifier Bass Station from DSM & Humboldt. The Simplifier Bass Station is a tone tweaker’s paradise, with a clean interface that’ll have you dialed in and ready to rock in minutes flat. Its preamp and tone stack are based on the formidable SVT. A flexible +/-15dB of boost or cut for each of its three EQ bands, along with independent gain/volume controls and a switchable 400Hz/900Hz/1.5kHz mid frequency, allows you to bend and shape any bass in your arsenal. A 3-way onboard analog cab sim gives you switchable 1 x 15, 4 x 10, and 8 x 10 cabinet simulations, along with virtual cab resonance and mic placement controls, to introduce a rich palette of colors into your bag of tricks. What’s really exciting is that the Simplifier Bass Station gives you complete control over your parallel and processed bass tones. You can adjust your wet/dry blend from the stage using the Preamp/Parallel Blend and Cabsim Blend controls, or you can send out both signals over independent XLR outputs and hand over full mix control to your sound engineer. All the while, dual FX loops allow you to assign particular pedals to your dry (chorus, compression) and processed (drive, fuzz) signals independently. There’s even a parallel-only lowpass filter to keep dry and processed signals from clashing in the top end, along with a Parallel Phase switch to help fight phase cancellations introduced by outboard gear. Looking to gig out sans amplifier? The DSM & Humboldt Simplifier Bass Station has the tones and feature set you’re after.

Powerful analog preamp

If there’s one bass amp that has remained a mainstay throughout the ever-evolving landscape of rock music, then it’s the SVT. DSM & Humboldt has painstakingly sought to preserve this legendary amp's power, punch, clarity, articulation, and aggression in the Simplifier Bass Station. Feather the gain and listen to it purr. Or crank all knobs to 11 and hear it roar. A 3-band EQ with +/-15dB per band gives you the control to tame or hype any bass in your arsenal. You also get a semi-parametric mid band with switchable 400Hz/900Hz/1.5kHz midrange centers, which is useful for scooping out mud or accentuating pick attack.

3-way analog cab sim

The Simplifier Bass Station seeks to re-create the sound and punch, roundness, and clarity of three timeless bass cab, entirely in the analog domain.

  • 8 x 10 Sealed: A bass icon marked by its tight, punchy lows and growling midrange.
  • 4 x 10 Vented: Delivers a more open and wider midrange response.
  • 1 x 15 Vented: Achieves warm, smooth mids and bellowing lows.

In addition, a 3-way Speaker Color section warms or brightens up cab tones with the flip of a switch. You can also adjust virtual mic directivity using the Mic Position dial.

Parallel signal processing

If you’re a bass player who enjoys blending dry and processed signals, then you’re going to love all the Simplifier Bass Station has to offer. Now you can quickly find your perfect balance of thump, punch, grind, and clarity using this box’s Preamp/Parallel Blend control. You can also instantiate such advanced effects as low passing your dry signal to avoid phase and coloration issues, administer infinitesimal degrees of cabinet simulation to your processed sound, and even toggle phase relationship between wet and dry signals for maximum clarity — all directly from your pedalboard!

Balanced wet/dry XLR outputs

In addition to letting you blend parallel and processed tones directly from the pedal, the Simplifier Bass Station also lets you send wet and dry signals out independently to an audio interface or live soundboard to hand off full tonal control to your mix engineer.

Independent wet and dry FX loops

The Simplifier Bass Station dual FX loops let you send stomp effects to each side of your signal independently. Want to pummel your preamp into submission while leaving your dry signal intact? Feed your fuzz and distortion pedals into the Preamp loop only. Want to apply chorus, reverb, and compression to your dry signal alone without muddying your drive tones? Just feed these stomps into the Parallel loop.
