Fender Stratocaster/Telecaster Poodle Case - Brown Reviews

Hardshell Strat or Tele Electric Guitar Case with Plush Lining, Gold Hardware, and Accessory Compartment

Embrace your retro side with this modern take on Fender’s iconic 1954 poodle case. Modeled after the slim offset case that came with the 1954 Stratocaster, this fresh update will enable you to transport any Stratocaster or Telecaster in grand style. The sturdy birch plywood construction and plush acrylic interior guard your guitar against wear, tear, and bumps while on the road or traveling to gigs. With a sharp distressed cowhide exterior, gold hardware, and accessory compartment for strings, picks, or tuners, the poodle case affords players vintage guitar storage that doesn’t compromise on functionality. Plus, Sweetwater guitarists find the poodle case’s flat back and offset top are a perfect solution for minimizing clutter and maximizing storage.

Man I just dig the Vintage style stuff

By Russ from METRO NYC/LI AREA
Music Background: a lot of years and still at it

the more rare on the vintage cases, ( next to those "eyeglass" cases they made for Jazzmasters. which I dig but mines a 50's model) lighter than the classic hard shell which is good, but don't think you are fitting much inside other than the guitar. still i dig it and it helps me tell which one I am grabbing to take to the gig since it looks like none of the others.
does still feel strange that the guitar is facing the other way when you open it =-)

Fender Poodle Case for Tele/Strat

By Toni L. from Arizona
Music Background: Performer

I like this case because it is lighter, prettier, and remines me of the Les Paul case from Gibson!

THE CASE OF THE BACKWARDS STRAT

By kevin l. from SC
Music Background: COUCH ROCKER

great case, guitar fits perfect (strat) my only "thing" about it and i knew it before i pulled the trigger is its layed out seemingly for a left handed guitar. not that big a deal but its not like the rest of my cases. Big shout out to my sales rep Mike Singer, he's the man!!!!

Poodle Power

Great case, not as bulky or heavy as the conventional Fender rectangular case. Well-made and easy to carry.

Fender Poodle Case

I prefer this case over the conventional Fender hard case. Your Strat or Tele will be very secure. Much easier to carry and travel with.

Strat Poodle Case

By Mitch P. from MARYSVILLE, WA

I was worried about the workmanship because of all the one star reviews. Whatever quality control problems they were having are totally gone. The case arrived ahead of schedule and was a work of art. Tite and right with zero issues. Thank you Sweetwater, you've done it again.

Beautiful but...

By Danny from Indianapolis
Music Background: Guitarist 46 years.

This case is gorgeous and very well made but... it's backwards! Haha! It didn't hit me until I started to put my guitar in it. Every case I've ever owned, the guitar laid in the case with the head stock on the left. That's the only reason I gave it 4 stars, because I have to flip the case the other direction. Otherwise, it's beautiful!

Fender telecaster case

The fender telecaster case is very well built but still light holds the guitar firm and looks beautiful

Wanted to love it.....but didn't :(

By RJ from LAS VEGAS, NV

At first glance, you think this is a cool fresh case from Fender. I loved the look of it and it was perfect for my 60's strat build that was going to need a case. So I ordered one up. When it arrived, I noticed it was very flimsy, some of the material on the outside didn't line up correctly. The interior lining was also coming unglued from the sidewalls. When I placed a strat into it, the cutouts for the neck didn't align properly 100% which made me think when closed the case could put pressure on the guitar leading to maybe warping. Overall, I'll keep it as a spare case for home after I fix the QC issues, but I'd never travel with it. Fender has some QC to fix on this one.

By Sweetwater Customer

For the weekend player like me who will never be a professional touring musician this case works great. Lightweight and cool retro vibe.

Weekend warrior happy

By Timothy G. from Illinois

First great service from Sweetwater. Ordered case on Friday received case on Monday. Really love the look of it, much better than the same old rectangular cases we always see. My strat fits nice and tight. Only complaint might be the hardware holding the handle, for the price I think it should be stronger. I would buy again.

Middle of the road case, Nothing special.

By justin m. from la quinta, CA

Overall, I'm disappointed. The construction and especially workmanship seems lackluster and sloppy. Some of the faux material has been cut in an uneven line and you can see where the dried glue is exposed. I tried to photograph this, but it just didn't show up. This case was also shipped out to me with a slight blemish, see photo. You can also see were some of the faux material on the bottom of the case is already beginning to peel up. The latches are nice and tight but to be honest, I'm surprised Fender put their name on this case. The case will not stay standing upright on its own, it will tip over. Overall kind of a strange design and not very functional. Closer to a $100 value, not $200. Fine if you are just keeping the guitar at home. I wouldn't trust this case on the road.

Disappointing

By Edward T. from Southern California
Music Background: Professional musician, recording engineer and producer since 1974

I love Sweetwater and I love Fender, and I wanted to love this case - but I don't.
First off, it's a cool but weird hybrid - a vintage style Fender case dressed up like a 50's Gibson. Odd, but cool.
After waiting a couple of months for it, I was very disappointed. The basic function of a guitar case is to protect the guitar, and I don't trust this case to do that. It's flimsy, and I wouldn't expect this case to hold up under normal gigging conditions. It's fine for storing a guitar, not for road work.
When I opened the shipping box and removed the case I immediately noticed a scratch near one of the latches that had torn through the vinyl covering. I don't mind a little wear and tear on a guitar case, but they aren't supposed to come out to the box that way. Not a good first impression.
I was expecting something much better for my $ dollars. Not a good value.
Pros: looks cool, the fit is good, latches work well, nice storage capacity
Cons: structurally weak, vinyl covering doesn't appear to be very durable, falls down on it's basic job of protecting your guitar on the gig
Fine for around the house - not so much for the road. Disappointing.
