Amazing Gate!!
Great Plugin, Makes the transients pop and the gate is amazing. Best gate I've ever come across, cleans up cymbal bleed perfect on snare and toms! 100% Recommend!
Ka-punch, and major crack!
As I'm sure even power users of DAWs will attest, drums are always the bitchest thing to properly mix. I run seven mics on my kit, which can complicate things in a hurry.
I've used so many EQ, limiter, gates and other plugins, along with techniques like parallel compression on individual drum tracks and busses in the past (especially the kick and snare), which can balloon into a major headache.
Although this plugin can certainly be used on individual tracks and busses, I really found no need unless the recording of a given mic is really lousy. I simply insert it into my master drum bus with the gate disabled. Kick/snare enhancement alone can be dialed-in so quickly, with none of the hassle of painfully tweaking all that other stuff.
When used in this manner, obtaining overall awesome drum sound is a snap. It's almost like a simplified poor man's Drumagog, and obviously at a fraction of the price!
Magic on Drums
This is one of those tools where maybe you think your drums sound pretty good, and then you add this thing and tweak it just so... And viola! They sound twice as good as before. You A/B them and the drums you thought sounded good now sound bland and lifeless without it. This is a great tool which I've used on some synths and other instrument and it adds size, sparkle, and life to everything it touches. The Midas touch.
This rocks!
I took advantage of the $ sale and I am so happy I did! Put this on my kick and snare and was blown away on the transients and low end settings. Dialed in powerful thick kick and a bright explosion of a snare. I greatly recommend this! SSL is the best around!
Best Drumstrip plugin
This is hands down my favorite plugin to slap on every channel for drums. The gate is the best I've ever used, the high frequency driver is the perfect top end lifter, the transient shaper helps the shells pop out a lot. It really has brought my drum mixes to the next level!
