For more than 50 years, Solid State Logic has remained at the forefront of studio and recording excellence. SSL 2+

By Gregory M. from Gastonia, NC
Music Background: God of Rap, executive producer, audio engineer, artist, battle rapper with 15+ years of experience in the game

this audio interface is arguably the best in its class/price point outside of Audient brand, the low noise microphone preamps are great, top grade conversion at the price, plenty of gain for any pair of headphones, not to mention you get TWO independent headphone amps, build quality is top notch, as you would expect from SSL, as well as the overall sound quality, beats out many below/same/above the price, highly recommended!

Interface

By Greg from Pennsylvania
Music Background: pianist and composer

I upgraded my very old computer to a new Mac, and all of my programs and interface no longer worked (yes, they were quite old and an upgrade was long past due). The SSl 2+ works perfectly for my needs, allowing me to proof my new .wav files, write sheet music in Sibelius from my midi keyboard, and input both audio and midi into Reaper.

Works perfectly

By Jackson from Tennessee

What you see is what you get! Everything works perfectly. Easy set up, no drivers to download or anything, and SSL provides some good freebies. Great I/O for a portable rig, would definitely recommend!

Sure is Solid

By Sweetwater Customer

Had asked someone a while back what audio interface they used, and this was what they had mentioned, so I had gone with it knowing it had a solid recommendation from someone that does a lot of audio work snd streaming. It's living up to expectations and I see it being my go to for a while!

SSL 2+

By JM from Florida
Music Background: Pianist / Home recording studio

I got the SSL 2+ to use it as a monitor controller which replaces my Behringer studio M, monitor controller as it started to go on and off with the sound. I already have the big SSL 18 audio interface as the main. I wanted to use the SSL 2+ to control my 2 pairs of studio monitors since it has a big volume knob. The difference in terms of audio quality between the behringer and the SSL 2+ is huge. I noticed the difference right away. It is a great addition to my setup. I am extremely happy with the SSL 2+.

It's okay but I don't recommend it

By Osvaldo A. from Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua
Music Background: 20 years into music (playing, producing, composing, etc)

I got my SSL+ a couple years ago. To summarize, the interface does what it should do but I have some complaints.
6 months approx. after I got it, the 3 push-buttons (+48V, Line, and High) started to have this dirt noise when you push them and need to kinda move them a bit to get the full signal input (there are some times where you think you are recording properly and then move the buttons and realize that the signal was distorted or not clear as it should be because now that you moved the buttons the signal sound better, clearer and louder), even some times they don't work (no sound at all) and you need to move the buttons of push up and down to make them work.
Also the 4k feature... I didn't expect magic from it, I was just curious when I got it, but just FYI: I will define it as make the signal/sound a little bit more raw. I mean, this is good, I would say that the signal output its more similar from the amp or whatever, but it is barely noticeable. If you have some noise over the signal, the 4k will make it louder as well (of course this is not the interface fault, except when the noise comes from the buttons previously mentioned)
Overall, I will recommend you to get another interface on the same price range.

Best New Friend

By Edward M. from Schertz, TX

My AXE I/O finally died! The SSL 2+ does things that none of my previous interfaces could never come close to. I never knew an interface could be this awesome. Compact, well laid out and easy to adjust on the fly. Mixes so easy & sounds Amazing. Best piece of pro gear I own.

My SSL 2+ MKII

By Michael A. from Los Angeles

Moving from the Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 to the SSL 2+ was a big jump in audio quality for me. Having worked with SSL boards in the past, I'm familiar with their quality. I'm happy with the move up. I haven't been able to put it through it's paces yet as my DAW started acting up shortly after the upgrade, but I look forward to creating great music with it soon.

Powerful Audio Interface

By Alfred S. from Los Angeles, CA

I really love this audio interface. I buy the portable ones for on the go, especially when I use MainStage live on stage. To date, this is the best I've ever had. I have not used it for recording or performance as of yet, but I have been trying it out and it's solid. The interface itself is made of great material and the 4K does a lot of justice to the channels. I can't wait to use it on my next gig or on the go recording. I highly recommend this gear, it's the best audio interface I've owned.

Best interface for the money I have found

By Trevor from Jackson, LA
Music Background: Studio

I've tried every brand of interface, and this is by far the best value for the money that I have come across. The build quality is second to none - potentiometers or rock solid and it is that quiet as far as noise is concerned. Honestly, I would expect nothing less from SSL and I have not been disappointed. One of the nicest surprises was that they have a Handy USB-C to USB-A adapter in the box in case you don't have USB-C on your computer.

Amazing interface

By Jesse S. from North Carolina
Music Background: Music Producer

I have used a Scarlett 2i2, Audient iD4, and TC-Helicon GoXLR in the past. In my opinion, the SSL 2+ MKII sounds better than all of them. The included ASIO drivers default at 512 samples, they out perform everything else I've owned. No crackling at all. I usually have to go above 1024 samples, which starts to make finger drumming impossible due to the latency. All of my USB Midi stuff feels quick and responsive.

A minor gripe is that the headphone ports are on the front, which is a thorn in my side specific to my production environment. I just had to move some stuff around. I didn't take half a star off for that because it's specific to my setup.

I did take half a star off because I've been spoiled by GoXLR's quality of life improvements. The SSL 2+ MKII comes with drivers and that's it. No virtual audio routing, no hardware/software noise gate, no hardware mute button. The latter is an odd omission. If I need to mute, I either toggle to line-in, or I adjust the volume down — which sucks because I have to figure out the correct levels again every time I do that.

Not a huge thing because I can do the routing/muting/gating with VoiceMeeter Potato. Would be nice if those were just built into the device though, because anything done via software means my CPU is more taxed than it would be otherwise.

Stellar Audio Interface for the Price

By Camden from BIRMINGHAM, AL

Absolutely phenomenal device, really happy with this purchase. I previously used a Focusrite 2i2 2nd gen as my audio interface and my latency sat around 7ms just for input latency and was just not up to snuff for my needs. Now with this device my sound coming out of a Rupert Neves DI box straight into this interface sounds absolutely killer for use on plugins. My latency on Windows 11 is just under 3ms round trip and works great for my intended uses.

Highly recommend

Punches above its weight class

By LIngoSlinger from Seattle

I produce audiobooks, podcasts, and corporate video, so my primary use for this device is for recording spoken word. The analog-to-digital conversion beats anything at this price, allowing fantastically open, natural recordings nearly indistinguishable from the actual source. The gain provides plenty of overhead. The meters are helpful (though since they only activate in increments of 10 dB, they aren't as precise as the meters on rival MOTU units). The lack of self noise makes for a wonderfully silent noise floor. I like the mix button that allows me to plug my headphones into the unit for lag-free monitoring, while still being able to hear sounds my computer generates. SSL has imbued this little portable unit with a big boy sound and quality feel, drawn from their experience with large consoles.

I love the fact that I can power this through the USB cable; on a production desk, that means one less cord and in my power strips, one less annoying wall wart. The only ding I give this SSL product is that it has no on or off button. Plugged in is powered, unplugged is not powered. The superb sonic qualities far outweigh this minor flaw.

This is my first SSL product and it's impressed the heck out of me. I certainly intend to look into the rest of their line. Great stuff!
