Ibanez Bass Workshop SRC6MS 6-string Multi-Scale Bass Guitar - Black Stained Burst Low Gloss Reviews

6-string Multi-scale Electric Bass Guitar with Okoume Body, Jatoba/Walnut Neck, Rosewood Fingerboard, and 2 Humbucking Pickups - Black Stained Burst Low Gloss

The Ibanez Bass Workshop SRC6MS is built from an exciting blend of tonewoods. An okoume body delivers a light, bright tone with an articulate high end and tight low end. A 5-piece jatoba/walnut neck makes a fine tonal complement while supplying excellent comfort and stability. The SRC6MS's multi-scale rosewood fingerboard offers optimal tension and playability. Experience superior intonation and vibration transference, thanks to a Mono-Rail bridge. A duo of Bartolini BH2 dual-coil pickups yields incredible depth and clarity, a 3-band EQ allows for further sonic sculpting, and a 3-way midrange switch rounds out the SRC6MS's controls. To top it all off, the Bass Workshop SRC6MS features black hardware for a sleek, eye-catching look.

An absolute JOY to play!

By Joe Iaquinto from Madison, WI on January 25, 2024

I recieved this bass today, played it for a few hours, and took it straight to my gig. I had an absolute blast using it! As a straight-up electric bass, it sounds great! Throaty, clear bottom, crisp top end, and enough tweakable mids to dial in all kinds of goodness. I used a pick and my fingers and both techniques were easily fascilitated. Palm muting with the pick yielded some old-school Carol Kaye sweetness! Thrwoing in some triads and full chords was the icing on the cake. Thank you, Sweetwater, as always, for sending a bass that was battle-ready right out of the box. I will be adding this instrument to my go-to gig machines. I'd give it 6 Stars, if I could!

So good I bought 2!

By James from Van Nuys, CA on January 15, 2024 Music Background: Pro Guitarist. Not so pro bassist.

I see these as short scale basses. Added a low B and this thing slays!

I bought 2 of these from Sweetwater and defretted one of them and it sounds fantastic! Highly recommended!

Most fun I've had in years. (Ibanez Bass Workshop SRC6MS Bass Guitar 6-string Multi-scale Electric Bass Guitar)

By Mark Sambuchi from Rochester, New York on December 11, 2023 Music Background: Enthusiast

One strum of an open D chord and I knew this was an awesome instrument. The Multi-Scale strings are very natural to play. The electronics provide a variety of tones. If you are a bass player looking to have a lot of fun, this is a great bass. It can function as a short scale bass that can also play some leads and chords. This a great bass for smaller hands.

Multi-Scale Rocks

By James from Columbus,GA on October 19, 2023 Music Background: Bass player

I love this bass! The tone and feel of this instrument is outstanding. I've played the Fender Bass VI and I prefer how this bass plays and sounds. I've been buying from Sweetwater for over 15 years and they have never let me down and Ibanez and Sweetwater seem to me to be a no-brainer.

This thing is awesome

By Jay from Seattle on May 5, 2023 Music Background: Playing for 38 years. I am 49

I play guitar and bass at church several times per week. I have numerous guitars, squire bass 6 ect. Been waiting for this thing for months. I love it!!!!! If you like the squire you will love this. The multiscale next feels normal. No buzz, keeps tune and all the additional controls. Heck yeah!! Now I can play bass abit differently then usual. My normal bass is a yamaha 5string tuned E to B

Does SRC6MS chugs?

By Grigorii on August 15, 2023

Yes, it is. But there's a nuance
If you find this guitar because you need something to play some low stuff between Drop E and depths of hell (Hi, Loathe), so you're at the right place.
First of all, all the promos says, that it's a bass. And it's true: all the electronics is 100% for bass. But the funny thing is that if you turn the "EQ Bypass switch" off - magically bass-VI become a baritone guitar which could make some nasty low-tuned noises. And the problem is that it's extremely non-obvious.
From the perspective of quality: Frets are smooth, neck is comfortable, switches work pretty good, etc etc.
As a lazy guitar player who tired of 27" guitars with spaghetti-080strings in Drop E I totally satisfied. As a lazy bassist who don't want switch Bass VI and go to take my bass from other side of the room I totally satisfied too.
P.S. Special thanks to YouTube channel "ArnoldPlaysGuitar" for explaining switch-trick and David John Levy for recommending me this guitar after one of Unprocessed's shows.

awful

By lance from ohio on February 29, 2024 Music Background: Decades old player

An awful kick out of the great initial version from 12 years ago,
Un sanded wood knots throughout. Fake woodgrain headstock "veneer".
Bottom shelf hardware, plastic knobs have casting flash. on
board "electronics" work "if & when". Not worth trying to find
a "hard to find" case to fit it. Extremely disappointing considering the price.
