Evans hi hat mute

I've played the Vic Firth mutes for quite some time, but the ride and hi hat mutes for the cymbal were never getting the job done well. I couldn't hit the bell of the cymbal and it was always going to one side, and the hi hat mute barely muted the hats, using the pedal was still at volume level. When I put these on I knew they were perfect. The hi hat mute really mutes the cymbals and I feel like I'm not playing on a mouse pad slapped on to a cymbals. If you're in need of a better hi hat mute or ride cymbal mute (Sweetwater doesn't sell the Evans ride cymbal mute individually but you can find other places that sell it individually.) I highly recommend these mutes for the cymbals. I can chick the hi hat effectively where it doesn't make noise, and it's incredibly easy to put on compared to the Vic Firth hi hat mute. My only minor complaint is that it sometimes sounds like a practice pad, both for the ride and hi hat but that's the whole point, to bring the volume down. I don't mind it sounding like a pad, it gets the job done well and it feels great to play on.

Worked well, but left permanent residue on cymbal

This hi hat mute worked really well, it sounds nice and quiet, and it's easy to put on and everything...BUT when I took it off, my cymbal was stained black where the mute was! It left black rubber residue that won't totally come off! I've tried and tried to clean it all the way off. It looks bad, and I was very disappointed that one of my expensive hi hat cymbals is now stained from the rubber. :( One pic is when I first took the mute off, and the other picture is after I tried cleaning it.
