Great stick, just don't last as long ..
Love these sticks! They feel great and are perfect for players who want a bigger stick without the weight of a bigger stick. Speed and control are a highlight for these sticks ... atlas .. they simply don't last long, especially if you're a heavy hitter like me. I've been using these sticks for about 2 months (a pack), and I've already broken 3 sticks, with 1 nearing the door. That has never happened to me, and I used to play 7A sticks that took way more hits to break. Oh well ...
SD1 for me
A balanced feel is important to me. Vic firth makes the most balanced sticks on the market. Sd1s are Ridgid, yet light. These sticks are made for heavy hitting, and ball tips give me a cymbal tone that cuts through a mix. Been playing them 20+ years and haven't found another stick that feels this good.
Best All Purpose
Been busing this stick for 40 years now. I use them for rock and roll as well as concert orchestra and everything in between. They give a beefy sound that is distinctive.
Vic Firth SD-1 General Drumsticks
5/5. These drum sticks are very good quality. Great snare sound for $ snare sticks. Will buy another pair soon.
Great sticks
These were my first sticks and I absolutely loved them. They were balanced and great for beginners and professionals.
durability
I'm very disappointed in the durability of these sticks today. I very rarely break sticks and I've used SD 1s for many years. for the past couple of years they've been breaking them in 2 in the same place below the fulcrum. I'm going to have to find another similar stick somewhere else since it's obvious that the stick is NOT the same quality as it once was. it's a shame. They used to wear down before they broke.
Quality wood.
I have been playing this stick for what seems to be about 30 years.... It's just perfect.
Enough weight to feel like you're holding and swinging something and yet light enough for some finesse and very little fatigue
Love them.
Forgot how awesome these sticks feel!!!
Just started back up playing my set after a 20 year hiatus. Been playing with mostly Pro-Mart Hickory sticks I picked up at a local music store. 20 years ago I remember loving the feel of Vic Firth sticks in my hands and broke down an got a pair here. These things are like playing with air compared to the Pro-Mart sticks I've been playing with for a year now. Definitely gonna get a few more and keep the Pro-Marts as backup. The Vic Firth Generals allow super fast speed and killer rolls. Won't be going back to the Pro Marts any time soon. Yup, I just love the way these sticks feel in my hands!!!!
